"Okay... Thank you, Doctor. Yes, I'll stop by tomorrow. Thank you. Goodnight." Mitch desperately tried to piece together the conversation, but he could only hear Alex's side. As soon as he got off the phone the brunette quickly rushed to Alex's side.

"What did the doctor say?" Mitch asked as he sat down next to him on the couch. Alex had his head in his hands, and took in a shaky breath before replying.

"He said Scott's in pretty bad shape. They think he's going to make it, but some of his injuries..." His voice trailed off and Mitch quickly placed his hand on Alex's back, rubbing soft circles as the blonde cried into his hands.

"Alex, hey no, shh shh. I know he's going to pull through this. He's really strong, and none of his injuries are that bad." Mitch tried to comfort his friend, but Alex's sadness quickly turned to rage as he leapt from the couch.

"It should have been me!" He screamed. Mitch slowly began walking towards him.

"Alex, please don't say that..."

"Why not?! I was in the car with him when it happened, and I know I was the one who was meant to het hurt."

"Nobody was supposed to get hurt! It's called an accident for a reason. How could you even say that? Why do you think it was supposed to be you?"

"Isn't it obvious? I'm not the famous one! I'm not a talented singer, I don't have millions of fans! If I got hurt nobody would bat an eye!" His hands were in fists at his sides. Mitch quickly grabbed Alex's wrists and looked him straight in the eyes.

"Alexander Kirk you know that's a lie. Don't you dare say that again." Mitch kept Alex's wrists in his grasp as he spoke, waiting for the blonde to even his breathing. The shorter man suddenly lowered his voice and spoke very soothingly. "You can't blame yourself for this. It was a mistake, and it wasn't your fault."

Alex's cheeks were flushed and his breathing was still uneven, but his hands relaxed and his eyes were shut. He took a few deep breaths as he continued to listen to Mitch's soothing voice.

"Alex come here, come sit back down." Mitch moved one of his hands to Alex's lower back as they moved back to the couch. "I'm going to go get you a glass of water, okay?"

"Okay." Alex said extremely quietly. Mitch soon returned with the glass and Alex took several small sips before setting it down on the coffee table. "Thank you."

"Don't thank me, it's hard for both of us. We can just keep balancing each other out until he's better, alright?" Alex nodded. "It's late, I should probably go to bed." Mitch stood but felt Alex grab his wrist.

"Please don't leave me." Alex looked up at Mitch with eyes so sad they almost caused the brunette to burst into tears. Alex pulled Mitch's hands towards him until he had no choice but to sit in the blonde's lap.

"I'll stay as long as you need me." Mitch said softly as he wrapped his limbs around Alex's waist and neck. He rested his head against the latter's chest and hummed softly as a pair of warm arms pulled him closer in. Alex's forehead was soon resting against the space between Mitch's neck and shoulder.

"Mitchie?"

"Hm?"

"I don't deserve you. As a friend, I mean. You're too good to me. Whenever Scott and I have arguments you never take sides. You always give us both advice and I honestly don't know if we'd even be together anymore if it weren't for you." Mitch smiled against Alex's shirt.

"That's sweet, but you two were made for each other. I can't take full credit."

They sat in silence for a few minutes, listening to each other's breathing. They were both extremely relaxed in each other's arms, and neither man had any intention of moving. For some reason they both needed each other's contact more than anything else in that moment. Both of their weeks had been spent worrying about Scott, and neither of them had gotten any comfort until they were balled together on their couch at one in the morning.

"I'm tired." Alex said softly into Mitch's neck.

"Me too." Mitch replied as he sat up, but remained in Alex's lap. They took a moment to look over each other's faces, both of which were pained and tear-streaked. Alex moved his hands to Mitch's shoulders and closed the space between their lips. Neither one of them deepened the kiss, nor did they try to stop it. They just sat there with their lips touching for a few seconds before Alex pulled away.

"Alex..." Mitch's eyes were wide. He shifted to sit next to Alex instead of on him.

"Mitch, I'm so sorry."

"No, I mean, I'm sorry too but, oh my god."

"I don't know why I just did that."

"Yeah I don't know why you did that either."

"Don't get a sassy, please just-" Alex was cut off by Mitch's hand on his cheek. Mitch turned Alex's head to face his own.

"It's okay. I know you're happier with Scott than you would be with me. It was just a mistake don't worry about it."

Alex turned his body to face his friend completely. He brought a hand to the back of Mitch's neck and connected their lips for a second time. The first kiss was a short peck, but this time it felt real. Mitch snaked his arms around Alex's neck as they continued to kiss. Alex hugged his hands at Mitch's ribs, tugging the smaller man forward slightly. Mitch inched forward so his knees were on either side of Alex's hips, their lips never breaking contact.

Mitch ran his fingers through Alex's hair, the sensation causing the blonde to pull Mitch closer to him, filling space between their torsos. They continued to kiss, Mitch biting Alex's lip gently. Alex pulled away slightly, looking over Mitch's body. He reached for the hem of Mitch's shirt, and soon the top was on the floor. They then continued kissing, neither one of them with the intention of going any further.

Mitch soon pulled away and looked Alex deep in the eyes. The brunette flashed the taller man a sad smile, and rested his head in the crook of his neck. Alex hugged Mitch's body closer to his own, running his hands along Mitch's exposed back. After a few minutes Alex shifted his body so he was laying down with Mitch on his chest.

"Let's sleep here tonight." Alex suggested. Mitch simple nodded against his chest, and didn't move a single muscle in his body until Alex had flipped the light off.

Alex flipped them on their sides so their chests were together. Alex discarded his shirt and pulled a blanked over himself and the man clung to his torso.

"You okay Mitchie?" Alex whispered as he began to trace his fingertips along Mitch's back.

"I will be." Mitch replied, his voice full of sleep. He wedged his legs between Alex's and they were soon tangled together and fast asleep.
