The following morning we all crowd around the Doors again right before they open, hoping to see Minho or Alby or Thomas. The sound of the Doors beginning to open causes everyone in the group to immediately go silent.
Once the Doors are open, we see nothing except an empty pathway.
"I told you Chuck, they're not coming back," Newt sighs.
I look into the Maze. "Please come back," I whisper. "Please, all of them, come back."
Everyone starts to walk away, except Chuck and I. A second later two figures appear at the edge of the pathway.
"Oh my god," I whisper.
"YES! YEAH!" Chuck jumps up.
Everyone turns back, and I have to keep myself from running into the Maze and hugging them. Maybe we'll get out after all.
Minho and Thomas drag Alby into the Maze.
"You see a Griever?" Chuck asks after Clint and Jeff bring Alby to the medjack hut.
"He didn't just see it," Minho pants. "He killed it."
