9: Reunion and Long Live

Katniss POV
I stand alone in my house finally in front of my mirror. My family all went out to dinner and the maids have the day off. The Victor reunion is tonight and I must say, I am a little excited but I know Gale, Peeta and Delly are coming.
I am wearing a white crop top with black lining, white shorts that match the top but have black tights that connect to boots. My hair if curled and in a high ponytail.
Make up is very minimal.
I sigh and grab my purse and phone before making my way to the Odairs. Annie and Finnick just got back from their honey moon. They made it quick cause they "missed home".
Annie says they needed to go home or they would never leave, but it was a lie.
Finnick and Annie are probably the best and most everyone loves how they can fake a lie.
Cato had actually caught them lying at school once.

We were in the courtyard at break time. They weren't together at the time so when Annie came out of her class with messy hair, she lied saying having a bad hair day. Finnick came out with lip stick on his cheeks. It was a funny day. It was the week before I had to move. A week before my life has fully changed.

Putting a smile on my face, I reach their house and hear loud music being played from speakers in the backyard.
The plain white fence is wide open so I follow the trail of sugar cubes meaning that Finnick is home, someone had a fight or just both.
Finally arriving, I spot Johanna complaining to a bartender obviously already drunk.
Seeing that Cato spots me, he yells, "Katniss has arrived!"
I laugh while running over to him and Clove. Hugging the both, Clove says, "You look nice."

I nod. "Thanks."

"Anytime." She responds flipping her straight brown hair over a shoulder. Clove is wearing a tight pencil skirt which is black and a white crop tank.

A shriek fills the air, "Katniss!"

Flipping around, Glimmer runs up to me in a flowy red dress and pink heels.

I mimic her tone. "Glimmer!"

We meet halfway and hug. Marvel says, "Marvel! It's so nice to see you. I haven't seen you in forever."
We both give him a look and I tell her, "Your boy is insane."
She flips her golden blond hair over a shoulder. "Yeah well he is my fiancee and I love him."
My grey eyes widen and I smile. "Congrats."
Glim smiles. "Thanks. And that is like the best outfit I've ever seen."
I laugh and feel two pairs light arms wrap around me, one at my waist and the other by my neck.
Madge smiles, "Kat so nice to see you showed up."
Annie continues, "You are singing. End of discussion."
I sigh turning to them and mutter, "Hopefully I get drunk."
Finnick screams from across the courtyard talking to Delly and Peeta. "Not on my watch you aren't."
I roll my eyes and laugh. "Maybe you should let Johanna sing a song."
We turn our heads to see Johanna stumbling around and Gale looking right at me while holding Jo up.
I tell the people I am talking too, "I'm going inside to get water."
Annie cuts in, "We have water over there."
"I know that but Johanna could have puked in it."
They smile at me and continue their conversation. Sliding the back door open, I walk inside to see someone already in the kitchen.
Peeta.
"Hey." I tell him as I take a water bottle out of the fridge and than closing the door. Taking a sip, Peeta avoids my eyes but bluntly says, "Hello."
Placing the water down, I ask, "Whats wrong?"
He shakes his head. "Nothing."
I walk over to him. "Oh cut the crap." I put two gentle fingers under his chin and turn his face to look at me.
Gasping at what I see, I cry, "Peeta...." there is a huge blue bruise swelling up his right eye. Ice is in his hands.
"What happened? Who did this to you? And don't lie to me."
Peeta whispers a name but it's not audible to hear. "Louder." I scold him.
A faint name escapes his lips. "Gale."
I'm about to ask why and where but Peeta interrupts me. "Long story short I was just trying to protect you. You don't need to worry Katniss."
"But i-"
Peeta shakes his head at me. "Dont Katniss. We will talk in two weeks. I have to visit my grandfather. And I am going to find out why our families hate each other. I am the Prince of District twelve and deserve to know."
I nod my head. "Bye Peeta."
He was going to lie to me. Peeta, my best friend, my love, was planning on lying to me.

Finnick walks on stage. "Ladies and Gentleman, Please welcome Katniss Everdeen!"
I smile grabbing a black guitar and strumming it.
Than I start to sing.
