While dealing with a particularly hard to kill witch, Sam narrowly avoided death (again) when lo and behold, the archangel Gabriel appeared. Gabriel was kind of trustworthy, Dean wouldn't be lying if he said he still didn't like the guy. Or that he thought Gabriel was hitting on Sam when he didn't actually care about him.
Unfortunately, even angels can't avoid getting hit with witch spells, and Gabriel was hit with something. What it was, they weren't sure.
"So, does anything hurt?" Sam asked him.
"I'm an angel. I can't exactly feel pain,"
"Okay...does anything feel off?"
"Besides the normal nervousness that comes with being around you, I'm doing just fine," the words left Gabriel's mouth and then one of his hands slapped over his lips.
"I didn't mean to say that," he looked up at Sam with slightly nervous eyes.
"Uh...okay. Sorry but uh, why exactly do I make you nervous?" Sam raised an eyebrow. Dean stood behind him, glancing strangely at the archangel.
"Because I'm in love with you and I -" Gabriel managed to stop himself from continuing but the damage was done. Dean was frowning and Sam was looking at him with wide eyes and a mouth half open in surprise.
"Yeah I got a feeling the witch cursed him with something," Dean gruffly said, pushing Sam out of the way to look at the archangel. Gabriel's eyes were closed and he seemed to be trembling.
"Alright, Gabriel, you're an archangel, you know what hit you, now spill. Love spell? What is it?" He looked at Gabe, who's eyes were now open and seemed to be full of regret and sadness.
"T-truth spell," Gabriel mumbled and looked at the ground. Dean sucked in a quick breath and pursed his lips in surprise. That was not what he was expecting.
"Truth spell. Which means it'll be gone by tomorrow. Get in baby lets go," Dean wasted no time in pulling Gabriel along and pushing him into the back seat. Sam and Dean stood outside.
"So, uh, you going to bring this up with him? He's uh, apparently in love with you so -"
"Dean. Just, I'll talk to him later when he doesn't have a truth spell forcing him to tell me everything. It wouldn't be fair," Sam got in the cars passenger seat. Dean raised his eyebrows and got in the drivers seat.
It was the next morning when Sam walked into the room which Gabriel usually occupied in the bunker.
"Gabe," he managed to breathe out.
"Oh, sambo, hi," Gabriel wasn't looking at him.
"Gabriel. I think we should...talk," when Sam said this Gabriel signed and looked over to Sam.
"I'm not on the truth spell anymore,"
"Yeah, I know. I waited till you were off it so we could actually talk,"
"Sam, look, I know it was sudden and honestly I had no intention of ever telling you -" Gabriel was cut off when sam placed his hand on Gabes shoulder.
"You should have told me sooner, I...I feel the same way, Gabriel," Sam wasn't looking at the archangel at this point. He was looking at their hands, which had intertwined while they were talking.
"Oh," breathed Gabriel as he rubbed a thumb over Sam's hand and looked up to meet his eyes.
"Oh is right. I could barely talk when you said you loved me I was just -"
"I would rather you were barely able to talk right now,"Gabe whispered as he connected their lips in a soft kiss, smiling against Sam's face. Sam's large hands reached up, one cupping his angels chin and the other running through the golden hair. Gabriel moved so he was basically on top of Sam's lap and wrapped on arm around his waist and the other hand grabbed Sam's arm. Thing we're getting more heated when -
"Hey Sammy I got - OH GOD CLOSE THE DOOR NEXT TIME!" Dean screamed and slammed the door shut. Sam and Gabriel looked back at each other and smiled before kissing again.
