Brooklyn's P.O.V

It was Christmas Eve, and the whole house was decorated in a festive theme. Golds, reds, and whites littered each and every room, the tree was a magnificent pine tree that was now decorated in glittering ornaments, lights, and strands of popcorn,"Master spent no expenses this year." I thought in front of the fire with Hoodie and Masky next to me. After the whole soul exchange thing yesterday, Master had confirmed my suspension. I had 'claimed' Masky and Hoodie. I don't think they were bothered by this, so I'm not worried. We sat there absorbing the warmth and listening to the kids laughing in the kitchen with Splender and Master Slender, it was nice.

I turned and looked behind us, Nathalie and Jeff sat there propped up together under a blanket, fast asleep. In front of them Nakomis and Ben laid on their stomachs playing DSs. Ben said something and Nakomis giggled. Everyone else was either up in their rooms fast asleep or outside playing in the snow.

"I remember this feeling," I murmured and snuggled closer into the blanket, watching the flames dance. "Hmm?" Hoodie sighed and leaned his head on my neck, "This."

"This?" They asked.

"Yes, this. It's been along time since I've been in an atmosphere like this, not since..........my parents accident." I murmured and sighed, Hoodie and Masky exchanged looks under their masks and snuggled closer to me, "Brooklyn, you don't have to-"

"No it's fine. It's actually a happy memory. We would bake sugar cookies and sprinkle a butt load of sprinkles on top." I giggled at the memory and continued, "Then we would go to the living room, turn off all the lights except the Christmas tree and watch the Polar Express." I felt two warm hands squeeze my own in reassurance, I smiled and sniffed, "Then, I would listen to my dad recite The Night Before Christmas to us kids and send us off to bed." My lip quivered and Masky and Hoodie sandwiched me into a hug.

"I miss them." I whispered and they hugged me tighter. Unknown to me, the couples behind us had heard my comment and shared sympathetic looks with one another.

"Mathair!" I heard a faint cry and looked up in time enough to see Tepes and Sally come barreling into me, "Oomph!" Masky, Hoodie and I gasped as the ecstatic children plopped down on top of us. Tepes looked up at me and handed me a book, "What's this teacup?" I asked looking at the book.

"It's The Night Before Christmas mathair! Grandpa said that he and mister Slenderman will take care of the cookies so we can listen to the story before bed. Can you read it?" He asked jumping up and down, "Well--"

"Oh, please mathair!" "Yes, please miss Brooklyn!" They cried and proceeded to do puppy eyes. I looked at Masky and Hoodie, "Can those eyes get any bigger?" Masky snorted, "We hope not." I laughed and nodded, the kids cried out in joy and dragged me to a spot on the couch. Tepes sat on my right with Hoodie next to him, and Sally sat on my left with Masky beside her, "Everyone ready?" I asked and they nodded, I opened the book, "Okay.......'Twas the night before Christmas---
