Amy's POV

As soon as I got home I saw my mom in the kitchen feeding my baby sister Debby some peas.

"Hey honey how was school?", she asked.

"Terrible. A guy asked me out", I replied.

Alright pause. I know what you guys are thinking. Getting asked out is a good thing. Well not in my case. I absolutely hate Caleb and his snotty friends to a point where I wish they would all play the knife game.

Resume!

"Sweetie that's a good thing. A guy is showing he likes you", she said.

"Mom I hate the guy. He's just so popular and perfect with his blue eyes and hair that won't stop falling in face", I said.

"Sweetie", she said.

"Yeah", I responded.

"You're day dreaming about him", she said.

"No I'm not", I said.

"Ok sweetie. I'm gonna take your sister outside so she can play in the water. Plus I don't feel like putting her in the tub so I'll just spray her down in the yard", she said.

She took Debby down from her high chair and walked out the house. I heard laughter coming from Debby as mom sprayed her. I pray that they don't get my car. I went in the fridge and grabbed a Dr.Pepper and sat at the table. I opened my drink and pulled out my homework. I began with math then science and finished with language arts. I looked over at the clock and it was 4:25. Homework takes forever but its worth it to get good grades. I put all my stuff and went outside to see my mom and sister still playing in the water.

"Hey honey. Can you go throw on your swimsuit and play with your sister?", my mom asked.

"Come play with me Amy", Debby screamed.

"Alright I'm coming", I replied.

I ran inside and put on my red and black swimsuit. Then ran outside and ran through the water. It was 90 degrees so this was my way of cooling off. My sister grabbed a bucket of water and threw the water in the air. All the water basically landed on me and I was soaked. Good thing I was in my swimsuit. I heard a car pull up and saw Audrey.

"I hope you brought dry clothes", I said.

"Actually I'm wearing my swimsuit. I wanted to see if you wanted to go to the pool but we can hang here", she said.

She put her bag in the car, grabbed her towel, put that on the porch and ran the water with me. Her short blonde hair turned dark and it was soaked by the time she ran through once. We were all wet, laughing but having fun. My mom called us in for dinner an hour later after we dried off and finished watching our favorite show The Vampire diaries.

"Audrey you're welcome to stay for dinner", my mom said.

"That's ok. I have to head home or else my mom will wonder where I am", she said.

"Alright maybe next time", my mom said.

"Come on I'll walk you out", I said.

She grabbed her bag and walked out the door.

"Thanks for coming over", I said.

"It's no problem. Plus I love kids", she said.

"Well I'll see you tomorrow", I said.

"Alright", she said.

She walked down the small set of stairs and got in her car and drove off. I went back inside and sat at the table which was set with chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy and corn. I filled my plate and ate slowly remembering that tomorrow is Friday.

"Mom I'm sick. Cough cough", I said.

Pause for a second.

This is something you shouldn't try cause it never works. Trust me. I try it all the time and mom never falls for it. She definitely won't fall for it cause I'm a senior and I need to be on top of my game.

Resume!

"Sweetie. You have a date tomorrow. If you're so "sick" then you can't go", she said.

"Mom I just don't wanna go. I mean what if we become a...", I said.

"A what?", my mom asked.

"A couple", I replied in a whisper.

I really hate that word. I hate the idea of love in general. Actually just boys. I still believe they have cooties. I know what you're thinking grow up Amy. I just can't help it if no guy has ever come up to me and asked me out. Let alone even talk to me.

"It's not that bad. I used to hate guys and then I met your dad", she said.

"But Caleb is just so popular. I could never live up to a title like that. All the attention and people", I said cringing.

I hate the idea of being popular. It just doesn't seem right. People coming up to you and acting like their your friend for the fame and publicity.

"Well if he's all that why did you say yes?", she asked.

"Cause I thought it would be nice to hang out with someone outside my social group. I'm already regretting it after a few hours", I replied.

"It's only one date. It won't be so bad. Besides, if things don't go so well it wasn't ment to be", she said.

"Your right. How bad could it be?", I asked.

But what I didn't know is that things were gonna be really bad. So bad that one of us could end up being humiliated. That someone will be me.
