"What do you mean you're cutting me off?" I shouted in disbelief, how could they do this? I was still their daughter, and I'd only been out of school for less than a year. I barely had enough money to pay rent! "You said you'd pay for me a few more years!"

"Sorry dear, your father has made his decision." my mom said regretfully over the phone, but I knew she was anything but sorry.

"Your mom and I are going to travel." My dad stated.

"That's your excuse? I can't pay for this place!" I cried.

"Why don't you get a roommate?" my mom offered.

When they'd hung up I screamed loudly to let out my frustration. I knew my neighbors wouldn't appreciate this, but I didn't give a shit. Nothing mattered anymore. I was going to have to move, I couldn't afford this apartment if I didn't have the financial aid of my parents. I know most kids don't get shit from their parents, but my parent's are dirt rich. They've got a lot of money to help me out, and they helped my sister out until she was at least 27. I'm still 23! How is that fair?

I looked out the window, the beautiful view from my perfect apartment. The place wasn't too expensive, but without my parents it seemed impossible to make the payments. My window overlooked L.A., I could see the Hollywood sign from my room. I sighed plopping down on the bed. I'd moved here in hopes of becoming famous, that had worked out soooo well. So far all I'd accomplished was making no friends and getting some job at this dumb diner that paid almost nothing. I'd moved here straight out of college less than six months ago, I wasn't even done unpacking!

I considered what my mom had said, get a roommate. It couldn't be that hard! All I had to do was get myself out there hoping someone else was looking for a place to live. I decided I would get to that tomorrow, I had to be at work in less than ten minutes. I threw on a blue muscle shirt and shorts running out the door.

"You're five minutes late Em!" Andrea called.

Andrea was the only friend I'd made, if she was considered a friend. We didn't hang out, but we were both in the same boat. Just out of college trying to make something of ourselves. Plus I guess we were friends, we made fun of people from behind the counter all the time and liked all the same music.

"Sorry." I muttered putting on my apron.

Andrea had light brown hair and slightly tan skin, her cheeks were dotted with freckles and her eyes were chocolate brown. She was super tall, even taller than me, towering over almost everyone she met. The only person taller than her was her boyfriend and he was over 6 feet. I began serving people and worked until my shift was over. Andrea and I had to close tonight, so I was there later than usual.

"So what's your problem?" She asked curiously.

"What do you mean?"

"I don't know, you've been in a pissy mood all day." She shrugged wiping off one of the tables.

I sat on the counter playing with the pad of paper, "My parents cut me off." I said sourly.

"Hah! Sucks. My parents didn't do shit for me, so it's hard to pity you."

"I know. I just don't know what I'm gonna do, I need a roommate if I don't want to move again."

"Well you know, I'd love to move in with you but I'm already living with Conner so..."

"Yea I know." I sighed.

"Put an ad in the paper or something." She suggested.

"I might try."

After talking a bit longer we locked up the diner and headed are separate ways. When I got home the apartment was dark and lonely as always. Everything about my life here was pretty isolated. I spent all my time at home when I wasn't working. I sighed deciding I had to get to work on this ad if I wanted a roommate fast.
