The Visit

I remember like it was just yesterday,

Oh how I wish things were still the same.

I promised I would visit you one day,

Although my parents only saw it as a game.

I saved up so much money for this trip,

Would I arrive there by car, plane, or train?

I hoped we would relax in our special place and perhaps take a dip,

In the pool as we let all our worries and stress just drain.

This visit was always so important to me,

I wanted to see you smile and be truly happy.

See, you smiled, but at times it was fake,

All your insecurities, sadness, and stress I just wanted to take.

Unfortunately, caring about you this much has come with a great cost,

The promise I made and visit that was once so important is now lost.
