ever since that history lesson, dan and phil grew closer.

phil would ask dan how he was doing, dan would reply. on days that dan was doing really badly, phil would hold his hand under the table.

each time dan found himself breathless and worked up. he was shamelessly infatuated... and he couldn't do anything about it.

the one time dan asked phil about sexualities, he wouldn't respond. whether this was a good or bad thing dan wasn't sure, but it made him feel terrible because phil couldn't trust him.

even in this day and age, there were so many people who weren't accepted for their sexuality.

dan was still questioning but found comfort online online with people who supported him, whoever he was.

despite everything, dan and phil were only friends.

he couldn't decide which hurt more - barely talking to his crush or being infatuated with his best friend.

dan wrote when he got home from school that day. "you're clueless & i'm in love. a boy like me has no chance with a boy like you."
