"What are you doing up there Aom? You can hurt yourself if you fall"
" I want to eat Mango salad with grill prawns, so I have to get some mangos"
"Come down, I'll get it for you, but in exchange you have to let me eat the prawns with you"
"Why would I have to do that? I'm almost done getting it anyway.. just tell me already why are you here Mike?"
"My dad asks me to come tell Aunt Orn about the buyer who would come buy the oranges today" Mike told Aom as he walks closer to her.
"Stop right there Mike, don't walk any closer and turn around, I'm wearing a dress you know"
"No! If you don't let me eat the prawns with you than I'm not going to stop"
"You pervert! Why do you want to look up a girl's dress?"
"I'm coming closerrrrr" said Mike in a teasing voice
"Ok fine fine! Half a prawn!" Aom making her offer
"What? No! at least two" Mike counter back
"Ok one of the prawn, come on it's a big one!"
"Ok fine" Mike said while he chuckles and turn around. "Are you down yet Aommmm? Hurry up, if you don't hurry I'm going to turn around now"
" I can't , it's high. Don't hurry me, I can fall you know.."
'WHOOSH' " OUCH" Mike quickly turn around as he heard Aom's voice
"Errr are you ok?" ask Mike as he helps Aom up off the floor. "It's a high tree and you're short, you shouldn't jump down."
"I DIDN'T JUMP! The branch is slippery and it's because you hurried me" said Aom while scolding at Mike
"Don't scold at me like that, ok I'm sorry I hurried you, don't be mad. Hurrr..if one day I'm not here who are you going to be mad at huh?"
Aom, who's trying to wipe all the dirt off her dress quickly look up at her childhood friend "Where are you going?"
"I'm not telling" said Mike while shaking his head
"Who said I wanna know?" said Aom while pouting at Mike, "It's good that you're not here, so there won't be anyone to tease me"
Mike can't help but smile at the petite girl's reaction, "And who's going to walk you to the university everyday?"
"I can walk myself to the university!"
"Ok good then I'm going to leave and won't see you for another 5 years"
Aom look up at Mike with a serious face, "What did you say again?
"I said I'm gonna escape from you and won't come back for 5 years"
"Where are you going for 5 years?" said Aom while looking at her childhood friend stright in the face, but Mike just give her a teasing smile and bend down to pick up the mangos.
Aom squint her eyes like she just thought of sometime and smile with excitement, "You got the scholarship?" Mike look at her as he nodded his head and smile a bit.
"So you get to go to England, that's great! Does Uncle Gumnan knows already?"
"Yeah my dad knew already, I told him about it yesterday"
"Congratulation Mike! So when are you leaving?"
"I'm not sure, I have to go to the orientation first, but I think in about 2 months maybe 3 at max"
"I'm so glad you get to go, so I'm going to give you 2 prawns to eat today"
"Is that all Aom? I'm going to leave for 5 years and you just gonna give me 2 prawns as a parting gift, really?"
"It's not a parting gift, I just want to congratulate you on getting the scholarship" Aom chuckle as she sees the disappointment in Mike's eyes
"Or you don't want to eat it anymore"
"No, I didn't mean that, I have to help you with all these mangos so I better be get something in return" Mike quickly answer
"Ok then, let's go back to my house"
Aom walk ahead of Mike, she is the one doing all the talking as Mike keep quite and watch the petite girl from behind. He notice a strange feeling that wasn't there before, it was a concern and yearning feeling that tickle his heart. They've been friends since they were kids, even though he's 2 years older than Aom, he's the one who always have to surrender to this little princess demand. He is the one she'll come to when she needed things to be done. Also, the two familys are very close, Mike's dad, Mr.Gumnan, had known Mrs.Orn for a long time. He always help them out in every possible way that he could, because there is no man around the house to help them. He helps to find buyers for their fruits, and send his employees to help them pick the fruits when they need labors work to be done, without charging them a penny.
Aom and Mike go to the same university and he would walk her there every morning. There're heavy rumors talking about the relationship between them, Mike neither accept nor deny it. Aom never cares about these kind of things, so nobody know how things would turn out between the two.
Mike is an only child from a good family. Mr.Gumnan own a lot of land and consider to be one of the top ten richest man in the area. Mike is a good student and hard worker, helping out his dad. Plus, he is a handsome looking guy, you can say that he's very popular among girls and they fall head over heal for him but nobody was able to capture his attention. Since, he doesn't have any sibling, he always take care of Aom like a little sister. He become accustomed to take care of this little princess and always have her in every part of his life. However, since he knows that he has to go away from her for so long, there is a strange feeling that he can't quite put his finger on it. The feeling of uncertainty, concern, doubt are all piling up in his heart.
