Ch 14: Not Knowing

Tomica pov:

I was shocked and proud that Eric was on the radio. I couldn't stop thinking about what might happen in the future though. After all the happiness, Eric was going to take me to Carla's house. He started the car and we then drove off.

Carla's pov:

I couldn't stop crying on my bed from the fact that my boyfriend Suge just dumped me. All I needed was Tomica to come by and cheer me up. There was a knock on the door so I went downstairs and opened it. Tomica was standing there with a big smile on her face like she just won the lottery.

"Girl, tell me why you're crying?!" She asked as she walks in the house.

I start sniffing and tears run down my face even more "Because Suge dumb ass just dumped me today!"

She walked closer to me to give me a big hug which was what I needed. "You don't need him anyways when you know there's more fishes in the sea" she said.

"I don't know if I can get over this easily. We had some really good memories together" I started to cry on her shoulder.

"He is dumb mother fucker for dumping you and plus, why would he leave a nice, caring, and sweet person like you"

"Awww thanks girl, you always got the right words to cheer up a friend" I said.

I took my last tissue and started whipping my dry tears. Since Tomica was in a good mood, I wanted to know why she was.

"Tomica what's up with you and Eric?" I asked.

"Girl!! So this is what happened, Eric brought me to the recording studio to--" I stopped her from saying her story.

"Recording studio? Why were you at a recording studio?"

"Don't interrupt me while I am telling you why" She said.

"So Eric brought me to the recording studio to sing a song for him and I did. After that, we got back in the car and found out Eric and his homies's song were on the radio" she said with a smile on her face.

I was shocked about the whole radio thing, but I was even more shocked about Eric rapping. He has no talent instead of acting like a G around Compton and plus Eric been telling people he can't rap since forever.

"He can rap?!" I said looking shock.

"Well I guess if he was on the radio"

"Well damn girl! I need to buy their album once it comes out" I said.

"Eric told me their rap group is called N.W.A but I don't know what that means"

"I'm proud for him and the other guys! I'm even proud of you for going to the recording studio" I said as I hug her once again.

After that, my mother walked into the house holding bags of groceries. She placed them on the kitchen table then walked back in the living room where we were.

"Hey mama! What are we having for dinner?" I asked.

"We are having your father's favorite, fried chicken and black rice with broccoli" mama said.

Tomica pov:

I was in the living room sitting next to Carla on the couch. Carla's mom walked in the room looking tired as always.

"Mmmm, did y'all know that Mrs. Jones just found out that her daughter Felicia been pregnant?"

"Ohhhh I heard all that stuff at school" Carla said.

"But did y'all know, the baby daddy is that hood rat Eric Wright" Carla's mom said as she made a disappointing face.

My heart stopped when she said Eric's name. I felt like a hammer just smashed my heart into pieces. and I couldn't move or breath but stare into space. Carla was about to get pissed and she even looked
like she was gonna drive to his house with a bat and a gun.

"She's 8 months pregnant and she never told anybody about it. She must be putting baggy clothes on to hide her stomach" Carla's mom continued talking.

A tear fell down my face then another tear fell down. I didn't want to cry in front of Carla's mom so I walked to the bathroom then locked the door to cry. I say on the toilet while tears poured down my face. I really do love Eric and I don't want my heart to be broken by all this.

"Tomica please open up!" Carla said as she knocks on the door.

"Leave me alone right now" I said while grabbing tissues beside me.

"Just open the door" Carla said.

I thought for a second then took a deep breath and opened the door. Carla walked inside then she crouched down to my level.

"Forget all the things my mom said about Eric. I was pissed for a moment but then realized you weren't with Eric for 8 months" Carla said.

I was confused of what Cala was trying to tell me "what you mean by that?"

"My mom said she was pregnant for 8 months meaning Eric was never with you at that time so he was never cheating on you girl"

I thought for a second "Ay you right" I got up from the toilet and grabbed another tissue to whip the rest of my tears away.

It was too early for me to be fighting Eric when we been together for 3 weeks now. I was relieved and happy that Carla was there for me once again.
