I Miss You

Chapter 5

Fairy's POV

Shawn and I have been texting each other as much as possible. He is really busy. It's been 2 months. It's been taking forever.

I'm on my way home from school.

Buzz buzz buzz

Shawn is calling I quickly answer.

"Hello?" I say.

I hear laughing.

Then the line goes dead.

His friends must have his phone.

I walk up my drive way.

"Hey dad!" I say once I'm inside.

"Fairy I have something important to tell you." He says.

"What?" I ask sitting down at the table.

"My job wants me elsewhere. We have to move to Wisconsin." He says.

"When?" I ask quietly.

"We need to be out of this house within 2 weeks." He says.

I nod.

I walk outside.

Then I quickly make my way to the Mendes house.

I ring the doorbell and wait.

Aaliyah answers the door.

"What's up?" She asks smiling.

I shake my head.

"My mom is in the kitchen." She says.

I nod and walk past her.

"Hi Fairy. Your dad told me you guys are moving soon." She says.

I nod.

She comes over and gives me a motherly hug.

"Is it alright if I go in Shawn's room?" I ask.

"Go right ahead." She says.

I walk up to his room.

His scent. I lay on his bed. This can't be happening.

I grab a piece of paper off his desk and start writing.

Dear Shawn,

I'm sorry. I couldn't tell you. You would've left Magcon early. I'm sorry. I love you.

I fold the paper and tape it to his door.

I silently walk out the door.

Shawn texted me.

{hey! Sorry cam and nash called you.}

I leave it as read.

He starts typing again.

I block him. Rude I know, but it will hurt him anyways.

I go up to my room to pack.

I come across two copies of the same picture. It's Shawn and I in preschool.

I scribble some words on the back.

I put on in a zip lock bag and run out to the tree with the picture and some string in hand.

I climb up to his branch and tie the picture to the tree.

The pitter patter of rain breaks me from my trance.

Quickly, I climb down the tree and run inside.

"Start to pack, we leave next week." My dad says handing me boxes.

Moving Day

I sit up. We had to sleep on the floor because our beds are already in the moving truck.

"We leave in a hour!" Dad shouts up.

I pulls on my ripped jeans and a sweatshirt. I throw Shawn's shirt into my backpack.

"Hey sweetie." Mrs. Mendes says.

I give a weak smile.

"You haven't told Shawn. I see it in your eyes." Mrs. Mendes says.

I nod.

"I can't. He would come back early from Magcon, it's his dream to sing." I say hugging her.

"He deserves to know." She says.

"I know but he will find out soon enough." I say.

"We will miss you." Mrs. Mendes says.

"I'll miss you guys a lot." I say.

She nods and leaves to go help my dad.

I grab my backpack and a box. I carry it out to the truck. I throw my bag in the front seat.

"Just a few more boxes and we're good to go!" My dad says.

We carry the rest out to the truck.

I wander the house one last time.

I go out to the tree and climb up to my branch.

I look to Shawn's branch.

"Time to go Fairy!" My dad shouts.

I climb down the tree and jog to the front.

"Bye Fairy. Come visit whenever." Mrs. Mendes says.

"Bye Fairy. I'll miss you." Aaliyah says.

They both hug me tightly.

"Bye." I say quietly.

My dad and I jump in the truck.

"Get ready for a long drive." He says starting the engine.

I nod and lean my head against the window.

"You'll see Shawn again, don't worry." My dad says.

I nod. Not believing him.

Shawn's POV

"Yo Shawn!" Matt shouts from across the stage.

I look up.

"How's your girl?" He asks.

"She hasn't replied for 2 weeks." I mumble.

"What?!" Matt says.

I nod.

"She probably is busy with school." Matt says.

"Yeah." I say sadly.

"Give me her number." Matt says.

I rattle off her number.

"I'll check up on her soon." He says.

I nod.

"Shawn! Sound check!" Bart yells.

Whatever I'm just going to forget her and focus on music.
