Nightmare

120 19 30

12 am the clock read,
She heaved a deep sigh,
The world was probably fast asleep,
While she couldn't even close her eyes.

1 am the clock read,
She sat in a corner,
Hands tightly around her ears,
Trying to block out the horror.

2 am the clock read,
She paced around her room,
She looked back at the darkness,
Its eyes promising doom.

3 am the clock read,
She let out a muffled scream,
As the darkness choked her,
Making it hard to breath.

4 am the clock read,
She lay still in her bed,
Unable to shout or even speak,
She suddenly realised that she was dead.

5 am the clock read,
She woke up with a jolt,
Sweat cascading down her back,
Like a cold forest waterfall.

She breathed in a shaky breath,
And ran a hand through her damp hair,
The hair on her body stood up,
As the darkness whispered,
"It was just a nightmare."

This was actually my first poem. The very first one. So it's really precious to me.

Constructive feedback is appreciated, and so are votes and comments. Nah I'm just kidding! It's your choice. But know that it would still be highly appreciated.

So I hope you enjoyed it!

Sincerely,
