"ARE YOU CURRENTLY doing anything that could in anyway be considered even slightly productive or useful?"
"That depends entirely on the situation, darling. Why are my services required?" Rosalie's melodic voice drawled through the receiver.
"You remember when I shot that arrow and it exploded?"
"Vividly," Rosalie answered wryly, "Though I try to keep that image out of my mind."
Allison sighed, cursing Bella for being busy, "Yeah, well that's too bad, because we've gotta go on a hike and play with some more weaponry."
"Yeah, okay," Rosalie laughed, continuing to laugh as Allison stayed silent. Her laughter slowly died down as she realized that the brunette wasn't joking, "Why do I feel like you're not kidding?"
"Probably because I'm not. I'm expecting you here in ten minutes," Allison ordered before hanging up on the blonde, pulling her hair halfway up so that it stayed out of her face. The girl was dressed in all black, slightly dramatic for a hiking trip and archery, but Allison felt that it fit the situation. The brunette fully intended on testing out those arrows she'd found the other day, curious as to what they do.
Allison picked up her bow from the dresser, holding it in her hands as she adjusted to the feel of it. The brunette slung the bow around her shoulder and picked up the container of arrows. The girl peeked her head around the corner of her doorway, "Mom?" She called cautiously, drumming her fingers against the wall as she waited for a reply. When Allison got no response, she opened her door all the way and stepped out into the hallway, trotting down the stairs when she heard a knock on the door.
Allison opened the door to reveal her blonde friend looking vaguely aggressive as she stood on her doorstep. Rosalie nodded, clacking her tongue, "Let's get this show on the road," she eyed the archer's bow warily once again.
The brunette grinned at the look on her friend's face, exiting the house and locking the door behind her. Allison walked ahead of Rosalie, inclining her head as an indication to follow her. The duo walked in a comfortable silence, the only sound being the chirping of birds or the occasional twig snapping as one of them stepped on it. It wasn't long before the girls were in the familiar clearing. Allison smiled at the sight of the wildflowers that covered every inch of the ground around her feet.
Allison hummed lightly to herself as Rosalie stepped up beside her, arms wrapped around herself as if to keep warm. The brunette bent down to open the container of arrows, selecting a green tipped arrow after a moment. Allison slid the arrow into place, pulling back the string of her bow. "Alright, let's see what you do." The girl took a deep breath, becoming completely still before she released the arrow, watching it soar into the center of her target. Allison dropped her bow quickly and used her hands to cover her ears as a loud, shrill sound emitted from the point where the arrow and tree met. Allison dropped to her knees, bringing one of her hands out in front of her, as she could feel the sound while it traveled. The brunette held her hand flat and squinted slightly, feeling ripples move across her hand.
The sound eventually faded into nothingness and the blonde beside Allison rose on shaky feet, stumbling into Allison before she regained her balance. "You okay?" Allison asked cautiously, concern evident in her tone of voice.
"Yeah," Rosalie breathed as she ran a shaky hand through her hair, "Just really sensitive hearing."
Allison hummed in acknowledgement before bending down to retrieve her bow and select another arrow. The archer slid a yellow tipped arrow into place as she pulled back on her bow. Allison took another deep breath, releasing the arrow once she was still. The girls watched as the arrow collided with the tree and froze in place when the tree suddenly erupted into flames. Allison watched as the flames centered themselves around the arrow, never leaving the area of impact. The brunette released an awed breath, furrowing her eyebrows as she watched the scene unfold.
"Allison," Rosalie's clipped voice brought the girl's attention back to her, "Are you done?"
Allison intended on replying with a strong no, but faltered when she saw the frantically distressed look on her friend's face. The brunette sighed softly, "Yeah, that's enough for today." Allison picked up her bow and the container of arrows, leaving the arrows she shot lodged in the tree's trunk.
The girls began walking again, in silence once again. Allison was too busy processing what just happened to speak and Rosalie was in a state of shock, unable to accept that her friend would soon find out the reasoning behind why those dangerous arrows were needed.
The walk to Allison's house seemed shorter than before. Rosalie was standing beside Allison at her car before they knew it. "Thank you," Allison spoke up, "For coming with me. I know you didn't want to."
Rosalie nodded softly, still unable to speak and smiled at the human girl. The blonde entered her convertible and drove off once Allison had stepped out of the way.
The female archer sighed as she looked up toward the sky. What the hell just happened?

Allison rolled her eyes as she sat on her bed, munching on potato chips as she laughed at one of Chandler Bing's jokes. The girl released another laugh, so engaged in her favorite show that she didn't notice the presence at her bedroom door.
"Oh, I love this show," Bella's voice startled the brunette, causing her to flinch in surprise. Allison rolled her eyes as Bella began laughing at her fright.
"Wanna watch?" Allison inquired, scooting over slightly so that Bella could lay down. The pale girl made her way over to the bed, laying down on the white duvet as she reached it.
The girls sat in overall silence for a while, an occasional laugh could be heard as they watched Friends. Bella laughed quietly, maneuvering herself so that she could reach her hand into the bag of potato chips. Allison saw a hand reaching toward her food out of the corner of her eye and reacted instinctively, slapping the hand away harshly, never taking her eyes away from the TV.
"Oh my— What the hell? Ow!" The brunette heard her friend exclaim from beside her, the sound loud in her ears. Allison turned to Bella, looking at her hand and noticing a distinctive red hand-print on it. The archer simply raised her eyebrows at her friend, giving her a look, before turning back toward the TV.
Allison smiled to herself as she heard her best friend grumbling indignantly under her breath. "Did you ever do any research on the whole 'I-think-the-Cullen's-are-vampires-but-I'm-not-sure,' fiasco?"
Bella rolled her chocolate colored eyes, "Yes, as a matter of fact, I did," The brunette then proceeded to sit up on her knees, "Can I use your laptop?"
"No," Allison deadpanned, not blinking as she watched Bella scoff, "Of course you can use it, dumbass."
Her friend shot her a look, opening the laptop up and creating a tab. Allison watched as she typed 'Cold Ones' into the search bar. The girls watched as the page loaded, a picture of what seemed to be a demon popping up immediately.
"Oh, well that looks promising," Allison could almost hear Bella's eyes roll as the taller girl spoke.
Bella navigated her way to a specific page, articles and legends popping up. The brunette scrolled down to a picture of a man with his head at the woman's neck, appearing to be sucking her blood. Allison furrowed her eyebrows slightly, lips tilting downwards as she read the article. The article spoke of how the cold ones were allegedly demons sent from hell. They described the cold ones to be incredibly strong, fast, cold to the touch, and unable to walk in the daylight. Allison inhaled harshly as she recognized most of these traits to apply to Jasper, and she figured that if they applied to Jasper, then they applied to the rest of his family as well.
