Night's Calling
The night
though it called with darkness
blotted and blurred away
all that scared me.
And dawn
made me scared,
made me worried,
I did not want day.
For the stars
satisfied me
and the moon’s shine
engulfed me.
Night eternal
must seem boring,
forever
much too long.
But always
darkness falling,
neon lights
and bright street lamps.
White mist
on pitch black
lake, the chirping
of the grasshoppers.
The canoe
making ripples.
Destroying peacefulness,
cutting edge.
Goodbye
morning light,
don’t wish to
see you.
I’ll stay in darkness.
