I walked into my bedroom where my boyfriend is asleep, it was his birthday and I got him the perfect gift, it was a dog tag necklace, he never said he wanted one but I'm sure he'll love it.

"Ethan, wake up ." I say shaking him, lightly.

His head light goes up.

"Good morning baby." He said, his voice low and raspy.

"Happy birthday." I say, happily.

I sit on his lap and he sits up, I kiss his lips.

"I got you something." I say, smiling.

"Oh yeah?" He said.

"Yup."

"Let me see." He said, smiling.

I turn my body and grab his necklace, I hold it behind my back and put all of it in my hand.

"Which one?" I ask him, putting my hands in front of me.

He put his finger to his mouth, as he was thinking.

"That one." He says, pointing to my left hand.

"Yeah." I say, opening my hand.

He looks at it and smiles, but it didn't look like a real smile.

"Do you like it?" I ask him.

He takes it from my hand.

"Yeah." He smiled.

"But, you don't look like you like it." I say, pouting a bit.

"Babe, I love it, I really do." He says, placing a kiss on my forehead.

"Ok." I say, smiling.

"I love you." He said.

"I love you too." I say.

I get up and let him up, he gave me a kiss on my cheek.

"Why don't you put it on?" I ask.

"Oh, sure." He says, hesitantly.

He quickly puts it on and smiles, I still felt like he didn't like it, but he said he did, he wouldn't lie to me.

"It looks great on you." I smile.

He gave me a hug and kiss on my head.

*Skip to later that night*

I sat on the couch, waiting for Ethan to come and watch a movie with me.

"Ok baby, what are we going to watch?" He said, plopping down next to me.

I noticed he wasn't wearing his necklace I got him, I felt kinda hurt.

"Babe, where is your necklace?" I ask him, kinda quiet.

"What babe?" He asked, looking at me.

"You're necklace, where is it?" I ask him.

"I don't need it now, we're at home." He said, smiling a bit.

"But you said you loved it." I say, looking down a bit.

"Yeah but." He said.

"But what?" I ask.

"I do love it, but just not as much as I said. I'm sorry baby, I just didn't want to hurt your feelings. I love you so much baby." He said, kissing me.

"It's ok Ethan, just please tell me the truth next time." I say, smiling.

"I will baby, I promise." He said.

I cuddled up to him and he held my waist, I love him so much.
