A Time When We Were Free

Shadows on the white frozen snow,
Icebergs on the rivers flow.

Illuminated windows on an abandoned  street.
A pizza place, where we used to meet.

The sounds of night drifting through the air,
Carrying to my ears and reminding me, of the fair.

Lights that illuminate the whole city,
Eyes hiding in the dark that reveal no pity.

Time passes by on the nearby clock,
It reveals itself by the 'tick tock.'

As the night comes to a close,
Time acts as if it's froze.

Friends laugh in the distance,
It only reminds me of resistance.

When all of this is gone,
Replaced with my sad song,
Singing of a time when this used to be,
A time when we were free.
