A week goes by and the spring festival is today, something Kaida is overly, overly excited about. She's been bouncing off the walls all day talking about it. I made it worse by telling her that I'd never been to a festival. I then had to let her pick something out for me to wear but she wouldn't tell me what she picked. I hope I won't look dumb. I trust her and all but I don't know sometimes... She's currently holed away in the bathroom getting ready for the festival. I walk into the bedroom and find an outfit folded carefully on the bed. I pick the top piece up carefully as if it were going to explode and investigate. To my surprise, it's just a plain black shirt and a pair of pants, nothing fancy or over the top. I change into the outfit and wait for her to come out. After a while, I start to wonder if she is ever going to come out. I hear the door open and turn from the window to look at her. She looks stunning. Her kimono is a midnight blue color with black lace edging it and cherry blossoms on the bottoms of the sleeves and the bottom of her dress. It hugs her body perfectly. She's wearing makeup, which is surprising, but it looks good on her, and she managed to curl her hair and pull her bangs back away from her face. She looks up at me and a blush crosses her face.
"You look incredible." I mutter quietly.
I smile at her and she returns it as she walks over. Her hand goes up to her mouth then to my hair and I raise an eyebrow.
"You had a cowlick. You clean up nice, Gaara-kun."
"You picked the clothes."
"I know. Let's go!"
She laces her fingers between mine and pulls me out of the house.
The streets are lit up with paper lanterns and fireworks are streaking up into the air on the other side of the village. Music and dancing are all around along paired with the scent of cherry blossoms and food. All of the villagers seem to be out enjoying it, elders sitting in chairs while children weave in and out between the people. It's honestly rather wonderful, especially when I glance down at her and see the joy in her rainbow eyes. She leads me around to the different booths and vendors to look at everything. I buy her some candies that she'd been talking about for five minutes and a stuffed panda to replace the one that Shikadai now owns. I hear squealing and sigh as we turn to face Ino, Inojin, and Sai. The girls hug and start to talk about the festival while Sai and I just stand there. They wander off a few minutes later and we run into Shikamaru and Temari a few minutes later. While the girls talk, Shikamaru and I share a look before Temari leads him away. Kaida drags me closer to the music and starts to dance while I stand there awkwardly. I don't dance and never will. Still, she giggles and holds onto my hands as she twirls around. The song stops and changes to a slower one so she stops dancing. I take her hand and lead her in a waltz and she looks up in surprise.
"I thought you didn't dance?"
"Perks of being the Kazekage, you learn formal things." I reply with a smirk.
"You're very good at it. I'm proud."
She rests her head on my shoulder as we dance in the street. I notice Shikamaru dancing with Temari nearby and he looks at me pointedly as the song ends.A/N: I'm disappointed in myself for the music in this chapter. I really wanted to find a good song to put in there involving the dance but I couldn't come up with anything. Hopefully this is cute enough >.<
