I groaned as Olivia defeated me in the Survival Games again. “You’re too good!” I cried. However, before she could reply, I heard a knock at the door. I took off the headset and went to investigate. When I opened the door, a man in a suit was standing there.
“We know your secret,” he told me.
“What?” I cried. “What secret?”
The man looked me dead in the eye and said, “Darren, you are being arrested for impersonating a famous YouTuber by the name of SkyDoesMinecraft. Please come with me.”
“No!” I shouted, “That’s impossible!” The man took no notice of my pleas and dragged me away by my arm. We got in a van and drove to a courtroom.
“Darren. You have been found guilty of this crime. The penalty is death,” the judge announced.
Then a man approached me with a gun, and everything blacked out.
~o~O~o~
“No!” I shouted, sitting up in my chair, heart racing. It was just a dream, nothing more than that. I wasn’t being killed. I was fine.
When had I fallen asleep? I had been playing Minecraft with Olivia. We had done some things on my server, played some survival games… I must have dropped asleep sometime during the game.
I heard a buzzing sound and reached into my pocket. My phone was ringing. I answered it and a slightly annoyed voice rang through.
“Dude, where are you? We’ve been waiting here for like, ten minutes,” the caller said. Waiting? My dream couldn’t be coming true, could it? They had no way of knowing. Nobody knew my secret. I was almost absolutely sure that I was fine. Almost.
“I’ll be there in a second,” I said nervously, hanging up the phone. What if they did know? I had no idea what would happen. After all, this had never happened before. What would the penalty be? It wouldn’t be death… would it?
I threw open the door to my room and rushed downstairs. The front door was made of a translucent glass, so I couldn’t make out the identity of the person outside. With a deep breath, I opened the door. I recognised the guy in front of me right away, and I smiled. “There you are, Adam,” Jason said.
“Where’s Ty?” I asked, remembered the conversation we had earlier.
“He said he can get to my house by himself,” Jason said. “We’ll meet him there.”
“Cool,” I said, following him to the car. “So what have you got planned for today?”
Jason shrugged. “Nothing much. Ty said he got a new movie, so we can watch that. He didn’t tell me which movie he chose though.”
We got into the car, and Jason started it up. He turned up the radio and started driving. I made sure to watch him carefully. If I did end up having to drive, I wanted to know exactly how I could do so. It didn’t seem too hard. Then again, that was what I had said when I had tried to bake a cake for my mum’s birthday. That hadn’t ended well.
My mum. How was she doing? Suddenly I felt overwhelmed with homesickness. I wondered if Adam had told her the problem. I wished I had someone to talk to, someone to comfort me. The only person who came anywhere close to that was Kermit. And he wasn’t exactly the sort of person I wanted to hug.
It didn’t take long for us to arrive at Jason’s house. I saw Ty leaning next to the door, looking impatient. He saw us and raised his eyebrows. “What took you so long?” he asked.
