"Just remember to make new friends, smile, don't slouch, and be nice to ALL the teachers." Mike began to fuse with my backpack and school supplies.
"Gee, thank you mom." I slapped Mike's hand away.
He just smiled, "Oh yeah, here's your lunch card, just eat whatever you want, don't worry about the cost." Worry about the cost? Is food really that much? Max it's like ten dollars for a sandwich. What is it now, five dollar foot-long. I thought to myself while snatching the card from Mike.
I opened the car door and stepped out into a courtyard filled with roman style pillars and a grand staircase leading into the main building. Talk about over the top.
"Have fun little girl!" Mike shouted at me before speeding off.
"Thanks for the encouragement." I muttered to myself.
I unfolded my schedule which Mike packed for me and tried to maneuver my way through the first day of school crowd. While everyone else was hugging and talking about their awesome summer shopping sprees, I was discombobulated trying to find my first class. This is just the perfect start to a perfect day... (note sarcasm)
"Lansing Carter?"
"Here. " I whispered. But the teacher heard me and continued taking role call.
It was only third period and I already hated school. Worse yet, homework here was like how much I did in a month at my old school. My head hurt just trying to figure out how much more that is in a year! No wonder you have to be kinda smart to get in. Or you just need the money. Class went by so fast, mostly because I was doodling in my notebook the whole time.
Now there are two kinds of people in this school. The rich, including myself, or more accurately my adopted family, and the intelligent super nerds, like the guy in front of me. But I was about to find out that there was a whole new level.
I was walking out the door behind the nerd dude when all these girls started giggling and clapping their hands. I was just like, you are not talking about the guy in front of me right cause he's got suspenders and 4 inch thick glasses, I mean not that it looks bad on everyone, just not him.
Turns out it wasn't for the guy in front of me (relief). It was for someone way worse.
I dropped my pencil on my way out and the next thing I see when I looked up is a very angry hot dude and a nerd with a face looking like he was going to be eaten.
I just watched as the hot guy pushed the nerd out of the way while the nerd was begging for forgiveness.
WOW! I don't know who he thinks he is, but he's got some major anger issues. The weirdest thing of all was that all the bystanders just stood there, some were even snickering.
Of course I can't judge because I didn't see what happened, but violence is never the answer (unless the guy on the receiving end REALLY deserves it) and this nerdy kid doesn't seem like he could withstand a flick of my fingers, no offense intended. I helped the poor soul up and brought him to infirmary on my way to my next class.
After I left the infirmary I though the day would cool down a little. Unfortunately, like guessing on my physics tests, I'm never right.
