Clarey
"What's up with you and Evan?" My mom asked me as she beat some eggs in a bowl.
I looked up from my bowl of cereal. My mom was staring at me with a devilish grin on her face. This is what I hated most about mother-daughter conversations. She's trying to squeeze me out for some information. In short, she wanted to know what's the 411 between me and Evan. Too bad, she won't get anything from me.
"What do you mean?" I asked, not looking up at her. "Nothing's up with us, Mom," I continued to scroll through my phone. "There is no us."
My mom bobbed her head, twisting her lip. She stopped beating the eggs and poured herself a glass of orange juice. She took a sip and glided over to me with an arched eyebrow. "You know that day we had our barbeque?"
"Yes?"
"I saw how Evan almost kissed you."
My nose scrunched up in disgust. "Eww, Mom!" I groaned. "He wasn't! He just tackled me to the ground, that's all."
My mom giggled. Ever since we were kids, my mom loved to tease me whenever Evan was around. She had a soft spot for that boy and she told me one time that she could actually see us together in the future, happily married, and with a bunch of kids. That was ridiculous because you don't put Evan and Clarey in a room together, or else, hell will break loose. Plain and simple.
I'm serious.
Me and Evan The hottie von Detten? Are you kidding me? Where is she getting this idea that we'd make the perfect couple?
No freaking way.
Okay, back to that kiss. It's not like he really kissed me or anything, but you get my point. She knew Evan was about to kiss me! Now how in the hell am I going to deny that? It was completely obvious, judging by how close his face was at that time.
"Evan's a sweet, handsome man, Clarey," she said, lifting her glass up to her lips. "I say go for it!"
I quickly finished my bowl of cereal, trying my best to speed up so I could leave the house and avoid further interrogations from a certain person called Mom.

I was snapping pictures of everyone at the football field when I spotted Evan and the rest of his jerk ass friends laughing rowdily by the bleachers. My heart seemed to lurch within my chest when I caught him staring back at me. His buddies soon went back to the field.
Trevor ran to me and gave me a peck on the cheek. I flinched. It was so damn uncomfortable to pretend how we like each other. This plan of his better work or so help me I'll smack the shit out of him before the end of the school year.
Wait, scratch that. He might not live to graduate.
"How are you doing today, Sweetheart?" Trevor whispered in my ear.
"Shut up, jerk," I hissed. "Don't call me that."
Trevor tipped my chin up with his index finger. "Uh, Clarey? It's called pretending? If we don't do this, then how are we able to convince the others that we're really dating?"
"Whatever." I said with a grimace, pushing his hand away from my face. He ran back to his team mates.
I glanced half-heartedly where Evan was at and I suddenly saw Kyler's sister Deidre sitting right next to him.
Hell no. Don't tell me she likes him, too?
It seemed like almost every girl at Bonita Verde is attracted to pretty boy Evan. What did they ever see in him? For once in my high school life, I would love to meet one girl, just one girl, who does not, I repeat, does not show an ounce of interest with that boy.
Deidre's stunningly gorgeous, I wouldn't be surprised if Evan would take interest in her. He must have some kind of talisman hidden somewhere in his body. Yeah, that would explain it. But where does he keep it? I'm getting too worked up on a boy. Cool your jets, Clarey. The sun was about to set when I noticed Deidre was no longer with Evan. It was his sister Evalyn, and his girlfriend Celia, talking to him this time.
I took the last few snapshots of Becca Milano, who was one of the flyers, get thrown up in the air. As soon as I turned my head, I couldn't believe my eyes.
Evan and Celia were sitting at the bleachers, and Celia's face was too close to Evan. I saw him pull away from her and shifted his gaze at me. I rolled my eyes at him annoyingly and gave a gag gesture. The scene just sickened me so much my stomach wanted to hurl that very moment. But I couldn't resist checking him out, though. Evan was, no doubt, strikingly handsome. It won't be long before he'll lure me to hell. I suddenly thought about Persephone and Hades.
Some say that good looks and popularity always equaled to trouble.
Damn. I guess they were right all along.

"Alrighty then," Trish said in her cheerful voice as she opened my closet. Her smile faded as soon as she saw my wardrobe. "Sofie, get over here!"
Sofie bounced off the bed and inspected the closet herself. "Wait. This... is your wardrobe?" She said dully. Her dark smoky eyes shifted back at me. "You know what this means, right?"
"Operation makeover!" They both said at the same time, giving each other a high five.
I rolled my eyes. This was going to be the death of me.
