Severide and Shay had the perfect friendship that could only be broken by death, unfortunately.
They were always so supportive of each other and would go to great lengths to make the other happy. For example, at the end of season 1 after Clarice had left for New York, Shay wanted to have a baby so Severide agreed to be her sperm donor. I thought it was so sweet.
After Shay died Kelly was a train wreck for a few episodes but he soon got back on track. Sometimes we see the odd episode where he references Shay and it makes me want to cry.
They were always so kind towards each other and I wished we could've seen a longer friendship from them.
