From about one in the afternoon until night had fallen around seven p.m., LeBron laid in the grass of his vast backyard, staring up at the sky. Choosing a patch of grass, he laid down on a blanket, with a six-pack of beers, in grey sweats and a black t-shirt. In and out of drunkenness and sobriety, LeBron attempted to forget about the excruciating six-game series that ended just five days prior and haunted him incessantly. Another number higher in the loss column for his NBA Finals legacy. Another reason for the hatred to continue to be flung at him. Another explanation for why he would never be the greatest. It used to be so simple when he was 18. He played because he loved the game, and the game loved him back. But every year he realized that the game kept changing on him, and the more he wanted it to be about putting the ball in the hoop, the less everyone made it about that unless it were convenient for them. Unless they were comparing him to Steph Curry who could undoubtedly put the ball in the hoop.

"Babe, please come inside. It's been long enough," Aaliyah called to him from the sliding glass doors separating him from her and the house.

"Naw, I'm good for now Liyah," he mumbled, rolling over, so his back was to her.

He couldn't keep looking into the eyes of his fiancé to see the pity and disappointment. As the Cleveland Cavaliers Marketing Head, Aaliyah Jones was just an extension of the pressure placed on his shoulders by his organization for a championship. At one time, Aaliyah had been his safe haven, his light when he was feeling consumed by darkness. But now, just as quickly as they had gotten serious, he was feeling himself pulling away from her because he needed space from the Cavs, and that's who she represented in his eyes.

LeBron pulled the last beer out of the carrier and popped it open, taking a swig. This season had taken so much out of him emotionally and physically that his resilience was waning. Day in and day out he needed to self-medicate. And although he could hear his trainers ripping him now for taking to the bottle and not sticking to his strict diet and exercise regimen, he honestly didn't care. With so much left to accomplish and so many memories left to make, LeBron was underwhelmed by his current professional circumstances and overwhelmed by what was left to be done. King James was officially tired of the throne.

"Please!" Willow whimpered, tossing and turning in her bed, "I'm begging you, don't do this!"

Willow's hands gripped the sheets before she let out a piercing scream and shot up in her bed, gasping for breath with tear-streaked cheeks. She heard the footsteps of her best friend, Bella, shuffling to her door and swinging it open.

"Low Low, are you okay?!" She whispered in alarm, coming to sit down beside Willow in bed and wrapping her arms around her.

Willow rested her head on Bella's shoulder, still sniffling and trying to get her breathing back to normal, "I don't know, Bells. I just don't know."

"Shhh, go back to sleep, I'm here," Bella whispered, slightly rocking back and forth, knowing Willow's mind would eventually let go of her past for the time being and let her return to sleep.

This was the third nightmare in four days, and Willow was unsure of where to go from here. She refused to see a therapist after her traumatic experience, she refused to go to work, and she refused to speak to her family after their falling out. Willow had no one but Bella, her best friend since birth and current roommate, and Bailey, her best friend since her days at Ohio State. She couldn't talk about what happened almost six months ago without hysterically crying. She was just so paralyzed in fear, guilt, and shame that unless she was going to a doctor's appointment, all she did was shuffle around her and Bella's townhome in an old OSU tee and her pink robe, eating, watching Netflix, and writing in her journal or checking the finances for Café Willow, her self-titled business that had quickly transformed into a local chain over the past three years.

Besides selling a variety of "comfort food" cuisine, Café Willow had become a venue for small-time bands and solo acts, spoken word artists, and other interest groups. Willow was overwhelmed with the success of her business and blessed to be able to do what she loved--serve others and meet and interact with people. But even the success of her career had been overshadowed for months by the trauma that has brought her life to a screeching halt. She knew she had reached her breaking point and all she could do was continue to pray and hope the Lord saw her through this inexplicable world of pain that she couldn't seem to escape.

"Alright, Willow, let's do this! Push for me, love!" Willow's OBGYN, Ella, encouraged her in her most enthusiastic voice possible, which just annoyed Willow even more in her current state of excruciating pain.

But then LeBron's deep voice echoed her OB's sentiments, "You can do it, Willow, I'll be here with you the whole way through."

LeBron squeezed Willow's hand that had been tightly gripping his for the past few hours. Man her grip is something serious he thought as her beautiful face began to contort right when she began to push. As a man you can really never understand the unbelievable pain of child labor until you witness it, and he was learning so much in these last few hours. One thing he knew for sure, Willow was the second strongest woman he knew after his mother for being able to get through this, and he was going to make sure he supported Willow in whatever way she needed him.

Cleveland Clinic Hospital was abuzz with talk about the LeBron James unexpectedly arriving with a woman in the throes of child labor, and media were beginning to gather outside of the hospital to await news of the mystery baby's arrival. Even Bailey's employers at Newsnet5 had asked her to report, but she had refused to wear her news anchor hat and instead put on her best friend hat as she made her way to Willow's room as fast as she could in her heels, meeting up with Bella as they ignored the floor nurses who insisted they wait until after the birth to enter their best friend's room.

Thank God for Willow, no media could hear her screams and grunts or see the beads of sweat soak her brow as she continued to push with all her might. She looked to her left and her eyes met LeBron's, pleading with him for some kind of help. Any kind of help at this point. She'd only been pushing for ten minutes, but it had felt like an eternity since her baby boy's head was already crowning.

"Don't you stop, Willow. No pain, no gain, baby," he whispered earnestly.

He didn't know where all of this was coming from, but he sensed that she needed him to be strong and motivating, and so that's what he was trying to do for her.

Willow exhaled with a small chuckle of agreement with LeBron's encouraging words and prepared to push hopefully for the last time. But right before she could, her two best friends stormed in with a mob of nurses and LeBron's security closely behind.

"For the last time, we might as well be Willow Diem Matthews' family, now leave us be!" Bella shouted at the nurses with Bailey backing her up.

Willow's best friends both turned to look at her and immediately almost collapsed when they saw their best friend's hand tightly intertwined with the much larger hand of...LeBron James?? What the hell is this? was the thought that clearly flashed in both their minds as their faces expressed their confusion right before they burst into a series of questions for Willow, LeBron, and Ella, Willow's OB.

The commotion continued momentarily before Willow just couldn't take it anymore and yelled through gritted teeth, "Can all of you just shut. UP! If you haven't noticed, there is a baby about to come out of my chute, and I need to concentrate, dammit!"

Everyone fell silent and smirked after being quickly reminded of who they were dealing with. The nurses and LeBron's security slinked back out of the room and after unparalleled perseverance by Willow, and continued encouragement from her supporters, the miracle of life was complete not even ten minutes later. And all LeBron, Bella, and Bailey could do as they surrounded her, is watch in awe and admiration as Nathaniel James Matthews was born.
