I woke up to Kyle lightly shaking me and sliding a plate of pancakes beside my head. I lifted my head up and groggily smiled, messing with the hair of my son, Jamie. He whined and I grabbed a fork, stabbing it into the fluffy goodness. I started munching down, thinking back on last night. It was great. The most fun I've had with Kyle for a long time. We just.. Spoke. About how we felt, about what was going on at work, even about the next date we should have. I sighed in content as the children ate, Sierra trudging to the table seconds later. I smile and pull out a chair for her.

"Sit, darling," I smile brighter and she giggles, taking a seat beside me. Kyle had sat himself across from me, one of his hands gripping mine from the other side of the table as I managed to maneuver a fork with only one hand. Sierra smiled at our hands and began munching on some pancakes herself. We all quickly finished eating and the children fled to get dressed along with my husband. Since today was my day off from work, I decided to say my farewells to the children and my husband before dozing off again, except in my bed this time.

~dream of le past~

I woke up with candy in bowls neatly placed on the floor and Kyle pulling me into him. He was on his back, while I was on top of him, also on my back. I sighed and he pulled me closer into him. I wriggled out of his grasp and quietly walked to the kitchen. I saw Sierra at the island staring at some papers. She noticed me and quickly scrambled to hide them, earning a questioning look from me. She smiled toothily and I shook off the situation. I grabbed a box of cereal and a bowl, pouring the cereal into the bowl and adding milk. I grabbed a spoon and sat my bowl on the island, sitting across from Sierra and checking my phone. There wasn't very much new, except for a text. It read "where are you?" It was from Kyle. I replied with a short "kitchen island." He walked out of my room, rubbing his eyes with the backs of his hands. He got food and sat beside me, and that's when Sierra spoke up.

"I have a trip I have to go on for work," she said sadly, "and I won't be back for around three weeks."

"Oh..," I say quietly.

"So I need you both to stay safe," she then passed me the paper. I inspected it carefully.

      To: my dearest heart.
I'm back. I've found you. Did you really think you could hide from me, y/n? I'm coming for you. I'll finally have my most prized possession back. And tell that Kyle kid that he can't protect you. I will take him down. I hope you don't mind, and also... Sierra, have a nice trip to New York! I'll take great care of your best friend while you're gone. ;) Goodbye, sweetheart,
                                         Love Adam.

I gasped and passed the note to Kyle. He just sat there blankly. "I'm getting my friend to check up on you every now and then, if that's alright," Sierra said. I felt a wave of relief crash onto the metaphorical sandy beach that is my mind. I knew her friend. She was a part of the police force. Alison, her name is. She always checked up on us. "I told her not to start a whole investigation on it, but they'll be watching areas around the house."

I just sat there speechless, nodding slightly and looking down at my lap. I felt a finger under my chin, gently pulling me up to face Kyle. "It'll be okay. We aren't going to let him get you," he assured me. I nodded yes and continued to eat. My head was going absolutely crazy.

So that's it, I'm sorry for it being so short! I promise I'll start updating longer and more frequently it's just life gets in the way! I really do love writing for you guys, and you all mean the world to me and I would like to thank you for taking time out of your days and nights to read this story. When do you think Adam will strike?
