Oceanic Lullaby

155 28 36

Emerald coves and glittering shoals,

Let the calm wash over me

As ocean waves lap at my feet.

Apathetic

Yet so sympathetic,

The horizon stretches away

Crouching, waiting, wishing, hoping.

Yet not at all.

I'll take this fall,

A jubilant plunge.

For I'm all alone now,

Out after the sun's curtain call.

And in this expanse of tears I'll drift

Until an encore upon the sky does shift.

A scene so serene, and in my penultimate dream

I sing in shades of absence.

For the ocean is dead, if only on the surface you tread.

The world is swallowed in oceans, and this sea is my world.

I'm cast adrift.

My legend is told.

Transatlantic and subatlantic.
