Ch 15: Don't Say It's Love

I opened my eyes to see the whole room was still covered in darkness. Turning onto my side I stared at Kaname's peaceful face and wondered why we always did this. I know he loves Yuki but I think he sometimes fears that one day Yuki will find that she loves Zero more than him, at least that's what I can tell from the way he stares at the silver haired boy with disgust.

I look towards the door hearing a soft knock on it. Slipping out of Kaname's arms I covered my body with a silk robe and went to open the door, just a little only to peek my head out. I was surprised to see Kain standing there.

"Oh hello Kain. What brings you here?" I said giving him a sleepy grin.

"I just wanted to see if you were alright after what happened earlier and all...." He trailed off scratching the back of his neck.

My face heated up hearing this. 'Wow he came all this way just to make sure I was okay.' This made my heart beat faster against my chest. "Yes, I'm fine but you didn't have to come and check on me."

"Well I also wanted to thank you for what you did for me." He paused for a moment with a thoughtful look on his face, "Which makes me wonder why would you take a hit for someone you don't even know?"

My body went stiff from those words. Truth be told I didn't know the reason myself. The feeling of protecting him was the only thing that was running though my mind at the time.

"I don't really know the answer myself to be honest." I said softly trying to avoid his gaze that was burning into me.

Soon I felt his fingers come under my chin, lifting my head up to look straight into his amber eyes. Kain slowly began to lean in as if he was going to kiss me. My mind was spinning as my knees were going weak. My heart felt like it was ready to explode inside it's cavity. I was so confused about these feeling he brought out of me. It had been a little by time since these kinds of emotions I was feeling right now with him.

Our lips were so close that I could feel his cool breath on them, when suddenly a crashing sound was heard from inside my room. The crash brought me back to reality causing me to pull away from him.

"I'm sorry I have to go." I said shutting my door before he could say anything. Leaning my back against it I took in a deep breath. I closed my eyes only to see Kain's face once again.

"You love him."

My eyes snapped open as I saw Kaname standing right in front of me fully clothed. "What?"

"You know, how your heart races every time you see him or how you get butterflies in your stomach." Kaname said with his smirk growing bigger by the second. "That my dear means you're in love."

'What? No, I can't be in love.....can I?'
