Chapter 5:

I was living in a nightmare, my Mother couldn't have been dead. The last time I saw her was... oh. Oh no. Why didn't Father tell me? I needed to know about it, why didn't he tell me?! My eyes were abruptly open in a split second, I wasn't at the campsite. Where am I? The grass I was laying on was sunken, the trees weren't jungle anymore, they were palm trees. I saw my backpack sitting next to my head. Where did it come from? I did wonder why it was here, and what was even in it.

I found my Cendrillon, it wasn't around my wrist anymore, my sword was still leaning against the side of my backpack in it's sheath, but I also found a small circular water bottle, and a satchel. I opened the satchel and found tons of fruits and pieces of raw beef and chicken. Where did these come from? I took a bite from one of the pieces of chicken, after almost burning it with my flame. Wow, that was good. I kept chomping away at the strip, when something bright shined in my face. I looked toward the bush the light came from, then saw a pair of familiar yellow eyes, and a bright blond up-do.

"Adar?" was it really him? I couldn't tell, but I could tell that that pair of eyes only belonged to him.

"Adar, what are you doing in the bushes?" I waited for an answer, but all I heard was a whisper.

"Uhh....n...nn...oh.." he said very subtly.

"Speak up, or I'm gonna burn that bush." he just stared at me wide-eyed.

"I'd prefer I don't come out... I don't want to."

"Why not? Did you break your pretty face?" I gave him a childish voice and puppy look. He blushed.

"No, I just don't want to... uhh... leave my sleeping spot...?"

"C'mon, I know this is about something else. Give in." I said in my best mimicking voice to copy him.

"No."

"Pfft, don't be like that. I'm coming over there." his eyes darkened in horror as I got up and neared him. He tried to hide deeper into the bush, but I could still see his blond hair. I walked around the bush to see a sight that would take my breath away.

                                                                                   *************

He wasn't wearing his usual golden armor, he was wearing a dark blue cloak with a hood that rested on the back of his head. He turned over to me and showed his regular pattern of armor, but blue. The curves and angles were no longer rose gold, but silver. He lifted his hand towards me, pointing to something behind me. Like a flash of lightning, frost had covered the tropical palm tree behind me. What just happened? Is he even a Tilbeder? How could he have kept this secret from me?

"Adar, are even a Tilbeder?" he gulped, rage inside of me made my back tingle and the next thing I knew, his hands were over his head and I couldn't see him, but I could see the small dome of ice he had summoned around him. I stomped on the dry, hard soil and flame sprouted around my feet, spreading around the ground and melting the ice and frost of his dome. I was not amused. He stared into my eyes fearfully. I was mad at him because I had trusted him. He helped me through my worst and he kept all of my secrets. This was not the Adar I knew.

"Please, Anya! You're better than this!" he cried.

"Adar! How could you say that? I am not evil!" I stared at him.

"Anya! Look at yourself! Your eyes are completely orange!"

"Wha..? I don't-"

I felt intense pain on the back of my head before I hit the ground and blacked out.

"When the Dav is met with a choice of their most difficult decision, she is given a gift from the last. Anya, if you receive a gift, you shall be wise and careful with it. I know you will receive your gift soon." I remember Father telling me that story when I was only a child. I never knew what it meant or what it would have to do with me.
