Dipper came strolling into his and his sibling's room, some glass bottles in his arms. "Hey Mabel?"
Meanwhile, Mabel had been lying on her bed, underneath a pile of colorful sweaters. She sat up at the sound of her brother's voice, multiple sweaters draping over her face and shoulders. "Yes?" she replied, elongating the word. She violently shook her head, making her face visible again. The moment she did so, her jaw dropped.
Dipper set the bottles on the ground, struggling a bit. There were at least four. "I think these are from--"
"Mermando?" Mabel gasped, leaping off the bed. She joined her brother on the floor and began rifling through the bottles. She popped one open, dumping out some water, a starfish, a sponge, and the letter she'd ultimately had her eye on.
"Why are you so excited?" Dipper asked, rolling his eyes. "Remember the last time you got a bottle message from him? And besides, isn't he...married to a manatee now or something?"
"Well sure, but it's still neat that he remembers me," Mabel grinned, unrolling the paper.
"Us, he remembers us, not just you."
"You know, we sure have dealt with a lot of letters this summer. Most of them weren't even from who they said they were."
"True, so let's hope this one is different." Mabel ignored her brother, reading the letter out loud.
Dear Mabel and Dipper,
Remember that undersea civil war I informed you about a while back? Well, things haven't gone so well since I last mentioned it to you two.
"Oh boy," Mabel gulped.
Dipper sighed. "Here we go again."
Turns out that while my people and I were in our weakest state, trying to prevent a war and all, we were somehow infiltrated and invaded by...
Mabel sat for a second, trying to decipher the next word. "By what?" Dipper impatiently snapped.
"I dunno, it's been smudged."
My people need help! YOUR help!
Sincerely, Mermando.
Dipper and Mabel exchanged worried glances. "The other bottles, check the other bottles!" Mabel screamed. "Go, go, go! Open that bottle, Dipper! Open it like a bear would a jar of honey!"
"Quit it right now or I'll throw all of these right back into the lake."

"Thank goodness we got coordinates," Dipper sighed a sigh of relief. "I was afraid Mermando would be stupid enough to ask for help and then not tell us where to find him."
"Come on, don't be like that, Bro-bro," Mabel retorted, bounding down the stairs.
"Yeah, but how exactly are we going to make it all the way to the Gulf of Mexico?"
"Grunkle Stan and Grunkle Ford have a boat, don't they?" Mabel replied, the both of them reaching the gift shop.
"Well sure, the StanO'War. But the question is, would they let us use it?"
"Use what?" Stan snapped, standing directly in front of the twins. Dipper and Mabel jumped in fear, surprised to see him there.
Dipper tried to speak, but he was quickly interrupted by Mabel. "Um, well, we were--"
