CHAPTER 07 | A DEMON'S CURSE

(y/n)'s P.O.V
"Happy Birthday, (y/n)." The white-haired boy greeted in a soft tone, making my tears to flow even more.
"Hah," I scoffed, sniffing. "So that's why, huh?" I grinned smugly at the boy, staring at his eyes. So it's my birthday today... I didn't even remember. It's been a long time since I celebrated it with someone... And since someone gave me gifts like this.
"Yeah." He replied in a mild voice, and then a small shade of pink appeared on his face. "Did you like my gifts?"
"I love them." My heart ached in happiness as I clenched my fists. Tears completely escaped my eyes. They flowed down on my cheeks, as I grinned slightly. Killua's eyes widened when salty droplets endlessly fell that blurred my vision.
Without saying a word, I embraced Killua in my arms, squeezing him tight.
"O-oi (y-y/n)! Wha-what a-are y-you doing?!" He exclaimed in surprise; though I can't blame him for reacting like that.
"Thank you, Killua. It's been years, when someone last gave me a birthday present." I whispered in his ears as I felt his arms wrap around me as well.
"W-well, yeah, you're welcome." He patted my back, hugging back awkwardly. I let go and smiled with tenderness, stared at his lonely; yet mesmerizing blue eyes.
"How did you know when was my birthday? I don't remember telling you. The only ones who know it are Yona and Siel." Wiping off my dried tears, I asked with curiosity.
"A-about that... um..." The assassin looked away; avoided glancing at me and scratched his head.
"I kinda got inquisitive about everything and anything about you when you became my personal butler... I wanted to know things--simple things--about you, just to know you better back then." He explained.
"So...?" I raised my eyebrow, allowing him to continue and spit out what he really did.
"So... uh, I went to your old orphanage; sneaked in and searched for your files secretly. I read your bio and everything the paper is telling me about you. So...yeah." Killua chuckled nervously. Seriously... This boy is really desperate. I know that I didn't answer his questions back then because I was too shy, and decided to tell my birthday to no one. Except Yona and Siel.
"And also..." Killua trailed off as he covered his face with his left palm. "Do you remember waking up on your birthday every year, and having something behind your room's door?"
"Um...yeah, I do remember those. And it's kinda weird... Sometimes it's a cake, a stuffed toy and much kind of things. Why?" I replied.
"Um...how do I say this..." Killua murmured to himself quietly, lowering his head. "...It was from me, (y/n)." The white-haired assassin half-covered his flustered, red face with his right hand.
"Oh..." I was left speechless, and unable to utter a word. All these years... He was giving presents to me in secret. I really find it odd and strange that, every time I wake up in the morning --which is the day that is special to me-- and the very moment I opened my door to the hallway, there's always something that it's wrapped in ribbons, or sometimes a legit gift wrapper. So it was him, huh...
"I guess I'm a weirdo after--"
"No y-you're n-not, b-baka," My face immediately went red, stammering as I talk. Damn it, Killua. Why do you need to be so sweet? "You never forgot and missed to give me something on each of my birthdays. I guess I have to thank you for that. But...to be honest Killua... I don't actually need these. I don't any material things on my birthdays. Just being with my master is already God's gift to me. Ever since we met. I've considered you the greatest present I have ever received. I am glad as you are that I'm your personal butler and you're my dearest Master. But still," I held his hand and smiled. "Thanks."
