This is just a quick introduction so it's not going to be a long chapter. Just a heads up!

Zayn sat on his poor excuse of a bed, staring out the open window as a soft breeze blew in. He looked across his little city as sirens filled his ears. He didn't live in the best part of town, it was poor and filled with crime and drugs.

He lived with his mum and her alcoholic boyfriend Yasser in a little 700 square foot apartment. It was miserable. His mum would go out with her friends almost every night and party then the next day she would be to hungover to do anything. Zayn quickly learned that at a young age. Since his mum and biological father got divorced when he was three, he's been taking care of himself. He buys his own food, makes his own money, and does all his own cleaning.

"ZAYN!" His mum yelled and Zayn groaned as his drunk mum stumbled into the apartment with Yasser.

"Zayn! Get in here!" Yasser yelled and Zayn shuddered sliding under his covers and pretending to be asleep so he wouldn't have to face the drunk adults.

"Kids asleep." Trisha muttered as she peeked her head into her sons bedroom.

"Whatever." Yasser yawned heading towards his and Trisha's bedroom.

Now you might be asking why Zayn doesn't just go live with his biological father. Well he hates his father. His father, Harry, has never reached out to the boy. He was to occupied with his husband Louis and other two sons, Niall and Liam. Zayn's only really hung out with Louis, Liam, and Niall a couple times. Once when he went to stay with his dad for the weekend and Harry had to go out of town for an emergency, and the other time when Zayn went to their adoption ceremony.

When his parents got divorced they tried to keep the joint custody as fair as possible, but in the end Trisha really had full custody seeing as she was the mom. At first Trisha always set up the meeting Zayn and Harry had, but after Harry stopped caring and she met Yasser, she was to in love to bother with it. To give Harry some credit, he sent the boy a birthday card.......usually, but just like a month late. It's not like Harry was on a tight budget either. Louis, his husband, was a music producer and Harry has acted in some pretty major movies. They were loaded with money and all Zayn got was a lousy card that said "hope you have a great birthday!' and it's not like Zayn wants everything Harry's sons have, he just wants one thing, his dad back. But Zayn is fully aware that his dad just doesn't care about him and only sends cards because Louis probably makes him, or his assistant reminds him.

Harry woke up Saturday morning to find his bed empty, but the house loud and awake. Harry sighed as he got out of bed and pulled on his sweats and a shirt before walking downstairs.

"Hey love." Louis smiled as he saw his husband enter the kitchen.

"Hey." Harry smiled kissing his husbands cheek.

"Papa! Can you make breakfast because dad can't cook?" Niall asked running into the kitchen. Harry laughed while Louis glared at the teenage boy.

"I can cook, just not well." Louis said matter of factly. Harry rolled his eyes and pulled out some stuff to make eggs and pancakes.

Harry quickly whipped up breakfast before placing out plates at the table where the family now sat. "What are you guys doing today?" Liam asked looking at his dads.

"Paying bills, why?" Louis asked while Harry groaned.

"Boring, but I was wondering if I could go to the movies with Danielle." Liam asked and Louis nodded.

"Not to late though." Louis says and Liam nods and says a quick thank you before running off to go get ready.

After breakfast was cleaned up, Louis whipped out the stacks of bills they needed to pay before dragging Harry to a chair. "This is stupid." Harry whined as he opened another bill.

"Well we need electricity and water." Louis said typing away on his computer.

"Oh shit." Harry groaned smacking his head as he had just opened about five of the same bills.

"What?" Louis asked looking at the bills in Harry's hand.

"I haven't payed Zayn's child support in months." Harry groaned as he started writing checks.

"Do you ever talk or see him, or even Trisha?" Louis asked and Harry shook his head.

"M' sure they are fine. They are tough." Harry shrugs as he places the checks in a envelope and begins writing the address of the social worker.

"When was the last time you saw him?" Louis asks and Harry shrugs.

"Oh god, maybe when he was eight or nine? He's twelve now."

"Don't you want to see him, he is your son after all." Louis says.

In response, Harry shook his head, "He would have reached out like usual. I don't care though, I'm happy as long as he is happy."

But only if Harry knew how far Zayn was from being happy.
