I woke up on the beach shore. The medics say it's a miracle, and I somehow floated towards safety when I was unconscious.

I told them what I saw, and they smiled, but it was a sympathetic sort of smile. They say I hallucinated, the side effect of almost dying. But I won't forget what I saw.

I am an artist by trade, and I drew a picture of him on some paper they gave me. The picture resembled him, but I couldn't remember the minor details.

"Monster," they had whispered when they had seen it, "look at that face." The doctors weren't sure what to think. Had I hallucinated? Had I really seen such a thing as this, or was I just crazy?

But I could not see a monster no matter how hard I tried.

His expression seemed serious, so I will call him Grim. Except for the part when he smiled.

How can he be a monster when he smiled?
