" Dad! Um- Beatrice was just helping me with my eye." Carl responds, again, referring to his injured eye.
"Ok Carl." Rick says, giving me a little bit of a ' that's what you better have been doing' look.
' What did he think we were doing? Kissing?' I think to myself. 'Geez Rick I know I was alone for a few months, but I'm not THAT desperate!'
" Well, we found you a house that you can stay in. It has running water and electricity." Rick says. 'Running water?!' I think to myself 'wow, this is really nice!'
"Ok." I say, trying to hide my excitement.
Rick smiles at me and says; "There's a woman out there, her name is Maggie. She can help you find your way. Then, tomorrow, we can assign you a job. Sound good?"
"Yea." I say, smiling back at him.
"Alright, come on." Rick says, walking out of the room.
"Ok." I say looking back at Carl. " Bye Carl."
"Bye" Carl mumbles back.
I pass by Denise." Bye Denise,Carl can tell you about the supplies. Oh- and thank you!"

As Maggie gives me a tour of the town, I was thinking about mom and dad, a subject that was not discussed in my mind.
I miss them SO much. I wish they were here to see this. I wish..... That Nina was here too. She'd love this cozy little place.
Tears start to build in my eyes, but I quickly wipe them away. I can't let this ruin this happy feeling for me.
"Are you ok?" Maggie asks, her southern accent strong.
"Uh-yes, I'm fine." I say, barely controlling the stutter that the pain had caused.
"Alright." Maggie says.
-------------------------------------------------"Well, here we are!" Maggie exclaims, gesturing to a house with pretty shudders.
"Wow." I say, staring at this still standing house.
Maggie nods happily, but then says, "Beatrice,if you need anything, me and my husband, Glenn, are here." She then hands me a bag filled with food. 'Yum!' I happily think to myself
"Thank you." I say, smiling. 'Real guardians again.'I awe at the very thought. 'I can have a somewhat normal life.'
I then step up onto the porch and open the door. I wave to Maggie and step inside.
I explore, checking out the house. It's not yet finished, it has some rooms that aren't painted and has some unfinished floors, but it's cozy.
The downstairs is mostly done, with the kitchen fully tiled and painted, with a working fridge and oven.
The living room is furnished and in good condition too, as well as the bathroom.
The upstairs, though, must've been cut short, thanks to the apocalypse. The only rooms done are the master bedroom and bathroom, everything else is covered in splinters and paint.
So, I take a well needed shower, (who knew I had so much dirt and walker guck on me!) And find some food (stale cereal isn't THAT bad.)
I then fall asleep in the queen size bed.
"This is hopeful." I think to myself.
