The Sad Truth

Thoughts are running 'round her head,

Tears roll down her cheeks.

She closes her eyes in despair;

It is only happiness that she seeks.

Where had it all gone wrong?

Was it her fault?

Maybe he never cared, she thought;

Locking her heart into a vault.

He, on the other hand

Laughed, with sadness in his eyes.

He had loved her with all his heart;

He wondered if she could hear his cries.

Had she ever loved him?

Had she come to stay?

Maybe she never cared, he thought;

Maybe it was meant to be this way.

They went their separate ways,

Never looking back again.

Their love was true,

But there was too much pain.
