i was awoken from a peaceful slumber by a jumping on the bed next to me.
"yo can you chill? it's ten in the morning." i croaked.
"I WANT FWOOT LOOPS!!" lily demanded.
"well we don't have any." i jokingly sassed back.
"then let's get some!"
"later." i shood her off wanted more rest.
"but I'm hungwy." she pouted.

"so you gotta sit in the back right?" i asked still clueless as ever.
"duh." she sassed getting into the car as she flashed me a confused look.
"what?" i uttered.
"where's the caw seat?"
"fuck," i mumbled to myself. "well just have to go without it for now."
"but that's dangerous." she said in her little toddler voice.

*back at the apartment*
i pace back and forth waiting for my mom to arrive after I had told her the news on the phone while lilys in the back watching cartoons eating her froot loops.
the bell rings.
when I open it there stands a furious mama maloley. uh oh.
she storms in past me.
lily looks up to her and utters a quiet "hello." almost as if she's afraid.
"nathan, how the fuck did this happen?" gesturing to lily.
"you know.."
"do you even know her mother?" she interrupts me. "where is she sleeping? do you have a car seat? did you child-proof the place?"
i stay silent.
she rushed onto the couch and frustratedly put her head in her hand.
there lily stood, confused.
"lily," i call. "this is your grandma."
"don't tell her that." mom whisper-yelled at me.
confusion spread across my face.
"nathan, you have weed nuggets on the coffee table. you're completely irresponsible. sorry to break it to you but you can't keep her."
"what do you mean?"
"you're gonna have to give her up..."
