*Oliver's POV*
For this to be a psych ward their security is really lax. The only door out is locked but never guarded. All you gotta do is steal a key and you're home free. That's that hard part though..stealing a key. So far the only key I've seen is kept at the nurses station. There's usually only two or three nurses at the desk at any given time and the doctors only in once a day. I feel like they want us to escape so they won't have to deal with us anymore. The only thing they're strict about is medication time and checks. If you refuse to take your meds they lock you in the solitary confinement room until you're more "obedient". They only do checks three times a day so as soon as the evening check is done that's it for the night. I can't take being in here any longer. I have to get out and see Sam, no matter what the cost.
I've been watching the nurses desk all day. Right now all but one of the nurses are busy giving out medication. Since I'm new I was one of the first ones to get my meds. Luckily, the room they keep the medication in is on the other hall, no where near the nurses station. All I have to do now is steal the key from the desk and I'm free.
I crept towards the desk, trying my best not to draw attention to myself. Not that it mattered anyway cause the nurse wasn't in the least bit interested in what was going on around her. Her head was down, focusing on the book she was reading. I mean really? This is just too easy. I stopped a few feet away from her, scanning the desk for the key but it wasn't there. I started panicking, racking my brain for where it could be. At last I spotted it on a lanyard around the nurses neck. Of course that's where it is..so much for it being easy. How the hell am I supposed to get it now? I've come too far to stop now. I have to get that key and I have to get it now. I took a deep breath and slowly walked towards her, tossing ideas around in my head as to how I was gonna pull this off.
"What do you want?" she asked, her tone very annoyed. " I want to see Sam." I replied, keeping my voice as casual as possible. "Not this again. Look, you can't see her right now. She needs time to recover and you need time to deal with what's happened and this is the best place for you to do that. Now please go back to your room." she replied, slamming her book closed. "No, I won't. I have to see her, now." I demanded. She picked up the phone, probably to call someone to "deal" with me. I knew if she called them I would never get out of here. I grabbed her wrist as hard as I could and jerked the phone from her hand. "Don't do that." I barked, squeezing until she cried out. "Let me go, now!" she yelled, pulling away from me. I gripped tighter, her eyes widening as she realized I wasn't going to let her go. She looked as if she was about to scream, and I knew I had to do something and fast. Adrenaline coursed through my veins and I lost all inhibitions as I grabbed a pen from the cup holder on the desk and stabbed her in the neck as hard as I could. Her hands flew to her neck, shock written all over her face. I was just as surprised as she was. What the hell did I just do? I couldn't think, couldn't breathe. She grabbed the pen and yanked, her blood spraying the desk as soon as it was out. How could there be so much blood? It was just a pen! "Oh God, no. I..I'm sorry!" I cried and rushed over to help her but it was too late. She slumped over the desk and was still. Blood continued to flow, covering everything in its path. I didn't mean for this to happen but I can't say I regret it. I grabbed the key from around her neck and rushed towards the exit. I held my breath and inserted the key, praying it was the right one. I turned the key and felt all my fears drain away as I heard the audible click of the door unlocking. I pushed it open and ran down the hall, praying I could get to Sam before anyone figured out what happened.
*Tyler's POV*
Chester's voicemail yet again. I'm really starting to worry now. They should have been back a long time ago and they're not. Sam is still unconscious and I don't want to leave her but I feel like I need to go back to the house and check on them. I sighed and stood up. Sam will just have to be fine on her own for a while. I mean it's not like she's gonna wake up any time soon, right? I walked over to the door and reached out to open it but jumped back when the door flew open. Oliver came rushing in wild-eyed and out of breath. He ran over to Sam and stood beside her bed, not even once acknowledging me. "Hey man, they let you out?" I asked but he didn't respond. I could see his body shaking as he cried and I didn't know what to say. I stood against the wall for a few minutes, not wanting to intrude on their time together. Unexpectedly, he turned to me with fear in his voice and said, "We have to leave, now." I blinked, not sure I heard him correctly. "What did you say?" I asked. "I said we need to leave. We have to get out of here." he repeated, his panic increasing with each word. "What are you talking about? What's wrong with you?" I demanded, beginning to get annoyed at his evasiveness. He stomped over to me and slammed the door open. "Are you coming or not?" he asked and walked out. I have no idea what's wrong with Oliver but I can't let him leave like this. I stepped out of the room and quietly shut the door behind me. He was already at the elevator, waiting for it to open. His eyes darted from side to side as if he were expecting someone to grab him or something. His behavior was really starting to creep me out. The doors opened and Oliver stepped inside, motioning for me to follow. I hesitated for only a second or so then got in as well. We've been friends for a long time and I have no reason to not trust him. I just wish I knew what the hell was going on.
He didn't say a word the entire time we were on the elevator. He just stared off, sweat pouring down his face. " You okay man?" I asked. He grunted in response and ran his hands through his hair. As soon as the doors opened he rushed out, not even waiting for the doors to fully open. He briskly walked towards the exit and I struggled to keep up. "We have a Code Black. I repeat, Code Black." I heard a voice announce over the intercom. Oliver picked up his pace, practically running now. We finally made it outside but he kept running. My sides were burning, screaming at me to stop. I looked back just in time to see security guards surrounding the exits, not letting anyone in or out. "What's going on Oliver?" I panted while trying to catch my breath. He looked at me, with terror-filled eyes and said the last thing I ever thought I'd hear, "I killed her. I fucking killed her." I stopped dead in my tracks and yelled, "You what?! Killed who? You're not serious..right?" I countered. The look on his face said it all. He really did kill someone. "What happened Oliver?" I asked, my mind reeling. "I had to get out. I couldn't stay there. I needed to see Sam. To know that she was still alive. You understand, right?" he asked. I wrinkled my nose, not sure how to respond to that. "Well..I..uh.." I said but he cut me off. "We gotta get go, now." I grabbed his arm said, "Wait, we have to go back to the house. I'm worried about Chester and the others. They all left a long time ago to get some stuff to bring back and they aren't back yet. I tried calling but it goes to voicemail." I could see a war raging in his mind and at last he agreed to go look for them. What I didn't tell him though was that the cops would be there too. He killed someone, and I can't just let that go.
