I met him when we were both working under Spain.
I was a kid, he almost an adult, both of us sick of working for the tomato bastard. But unlike me, he kept his head down and out of trouble. He seemed a little scared of Spain, to be honest.
Portugal and I were friends, I daresay.
To protect Spain was to protect him, so that's what I did. I protected Spain so as not to lose my friend.
I grew up, he drew away from Spain and I, talk of revolution in every word.
He was backed up with his plan -- one we thought would never work, but succeeded, bringing him freedom I had always longed for.
I decided to bring about my own revolution. Spurred by his success, I became my own country, soon joined by my brother.
Our international relations are some of the best, and I'm glad.
We're still friends, even though I have been gravitating towards more than that.
And it's all thanks to our Revolution.
