Chspter 11: Notes and Searches

Edward Cullen's POV

After Carlisle called and told us about James' half brother being here and got Anna, we all ran back to the house. We were only a couple towns away.

We got to the house just as Carlisle came to a stop. We all look at the door and froze. It was shattered. We ran in and look around.

I saw a crumpled note. It said:

'Your family can't protect you, Annabelle. I've been watching you since you were human. Carlisle had his nasty hands on you. You are mine. And I'm going to take what is mine.'

I was so pissed off. My fathers mate, whom is my wife's sister, has been captured by James' sadistic half brother.

I gave it to my family. Carlisle was so heartbroken but I can see the disgust in his eyes.

"Search the house." He ordered.

We all ran around the house looking for anything. Bella and Carlisle stayed together. I can hear their thoughts.

Bella's thoughts:
I can't believe after all this time, James' brother chooses to retaliate NOW of all times! My sister just got her damn life taken from her by Aro and his selfish ass! I feel so bad for Anna. I remember she would always talk about having kids with Carlisle before we left. She'll never be able to have that. I feel so bad. I got to have Renesme with Edward when I was human. But Anna can never have that. She was made, forced, to be a vampire. I chose to be. Edward saved me after dying from having Renesme.

Now I feel even more guilty. Anna would've been a great mother. Carlisle would be partially against it but also thinking about it.

If he could, he'd happily turn human with Anna and marry her then have children. He's a great father. Annabelle is a great sister/mother.

Carlisle's thoughts:
If I see so much as a hair ripped from Anna's head, I will kill James' brother. She's innocent in all of this. Sigh. I should've brought her to work with me or had Edward, Jasper, or Emmett come by and stay with her until I got back. But I didn't. Now she could possibly be dead over something that happened 4 years ago. Edward will try to blame himself but I won't let him. It's not his fault.

Yes it is. How can he not blame me? I'm he reason of Anna's disappearance and possible death.

I walk into the dining room and gasp at the damage. The table was broken and the glass pictures were shattered.

I crouch down and get a pained look on my face as I pull a chunk of Anna's hair out of a piece of wood.

Son of a bitch.

"Guys!" I hear Alice yell.

We all sped to her and saw her frozen in front of Anna's room. We look in and gasp. Her room was a disaster.

"He must have attacked her here and took it to the dining room." I say.

"How do you know?" Bella asks.

I show them the chunk of Anna's hair. They all gasp.

"Pulled it out of a piece of wood." I say.

My voice was low and broken. I hate this so much. Carlisle and Bella were dry sobbing. Alice comforts Carlisle while I comfort Bella.

I answer my ringing phone.

"Hello?" I ask.

"What's the damage?" Jacob asks.

"It looks like he attacked Anna in her room and she took off then he attacked her in the dining room. Both rooms are destroyed. I found a chunk of her hair in a piece of the wood." I say.

"Goddammit." He says.

It was silent.

"Don't blame yourself, Edward." He says.

"How can I not blame myself, Jacob? James' brother came after Anna to get to me for protecting Bella. He could have came after Bella or someone else but he settled on Anna so I'd feel the guilt of Bella being in pain for eternity over her sister being dead. How is this not my fault?" I ask.

"You were protecting Bella. She's your mate. Your mate comes before anyone. I love Abby to death but we all know Bella will come before anyone." He says.

"Anna could be dead and it's all my fault. Carlisle and Bella are broken. Carlisle is losing it. Bella is trying to stay strong. Everyone else is going insane. Jasper is becoming overwhelmed with everyone's emotions but he's also damn near about to let the major out." I say.

"I'll tel Sam to send some members of his pack over. Renesme is asleep. She was asking for you, Bella, Carlisle, and.... and Anna." Jacob says.

Shit.

"Keep her safe. Tell her me and Bella will be home soon and that Carlisle is busy and Anna is away visiting Charlie." I say.

"Okay. Find Anna." He says then hangs up.

I look around and see my family sitting with Bella and Carlisle, trying to get them to talk. Mostly Carlisle. He looked off into a distance.

This is all my fault.

'Edward'!'

What the hell? I look around. No one said my name.

'Edward, help!'

What the hell? Anna? How the hell--?!

'Anna?!'

'Edward! Help! I'll explain how I can do this later! Get Jasper and Emmett! Tell Jasper to let the major out and follow my scent in the woods! Just you three! Hurry! I don't have much time!'

I suddenly got a picture, in my head, of a place. I gasp.

"I know where she is!" I say.

Everyone turns to me.

"Jasper. Emmett. Let's go." I say.

They get up. Carlisle and Bella stand up.

"You two stay here with everyone else. We'll get Anna and bring her back." I say.

They both looked ready to protest but then didn't. I saw Jasper manipulating their emotions.

"Ok. Just... Bring her back." Bella says.

I kiss her then turn to Carlisle.

"I will do anything and everything I can to bring back your mate." I say.

He nods. I turn to my sisters.

"Take care of them." I say to them.

They nod. Jasper, Emmett, and I speed off. We use our speed to run all the way to Phoenix. James' brother took Anna to the place where it all happened.
