Don't Leave Me Alone Again

Chapter 4

" I'm going to call you Maie for now on" Kani said staring at the sky 

We were sitting on the secret garden on the roof. The one I started because I had no friends 3 years ago and I needed something to do.  Well now it's me and Kani's secret. No one else. It was ours

Kani said I was lucky for only getting after school detention for what I did. I told him I didn't want to talk about it. The fact I could've killed Comet right then and there scared me. I didn't know i had so much strength. 

"Maie....." He said 

I looked at him and he just started into my soul or something. I don't know. But I do know we can never be something.  

Just friends   

"Im sorry" I said 

He looked almost irritated "why are you sorry, you have no reason to be, you are--"

"NO IM NOT" I screamed " I am nothing can't you get that through your thick ass head! I'm treated like nothing so I might as well be nothing" 

Kani just looked at me and before he could do anything I left him there 

Alone.

*Kani's P.O.V*

It almost felt like a movie. Where she walked out on me and I sat there gazed because I didn't know what to say. I never know what to say. Which makes me feel like my presence is worthless around her.

I need to make her feel like she is something. But I can't change her perspective of herself. She is obviously seriously hurt. 

Mentally anyways 

But I can't tell her that, because she'll only think there's something more wrong with her. 

She just doesn't see herself, she doesn't see everything I see. I wish she would but she's seriously fucked up. I know nothing about her. But I need to know. She needs to know i'm her's forever. 

I got up and went downstairs. Knowing Naomi, I mean Maie, she probably went home, trying to fight the tears as she walked so people wouldn't ask her why she's crying in the street. Especially since she lived near the hood. 

"KANI" 

I turned around and I saw Arobi, Akira and Iris. They all stood in a line next to one another. I felt like I was about to get jumped 

"Where the FUCK is Naomi" Iris yelled. She scared me out of all of them. She could kill me if she wanted to.

"Iris......." Arobi said "we need to be subtle, he's just a boy"

She scoffed and rolled her eyes. God it felt like she really hated me

"Kani, it's not a good day for Naomi" Akira said. She looked more worried and scared than the rest of them 

" I know she was really upset cuse of what happened to Comet, I was just about t--"

"No........" She sighed

I looked up and she looked scared, almost pale. It must have been serious. What the hell was going on. 

" Today is the day her mother......... Her mother left-and" she gasped for air. 

Why was she so upset

" Naomi, she-she gets really lonely, especially now, because the day her mom left, she said she would come back................. That was almost 8 years ago. " she stopped 

I didn't know Naomi was alone, I thought she had family....

She shook a little and took small deep breaths. I wanted to ask her why it was so hard for her to tell this to me. Like she told it as if something was going to happen 

"So now she lives with her sister, Tori. It's just the two of them" She continued 
" But I'm afraid to leave Naomi alone, especially today......her sister isn't home and she could.."

I saw tears crawl into her eyes but she fought them back 

"Why, what would she do" I said 

I was agitated. What could she possibly do

They all looked at me, with sad looks on their faces, and for some reason something told me to run, run to her. Run before I lost her forever.

"It all started in 7th grade" Akira  whispered

When I got to her house. It was dark inside. All inside but I knew she was home. I remembered the  key she told me she hid and I went inside

I heard the wind from the back door. Rushing through  the house like the bus going on 55 mph 

It felt like I was in one of those creepy haunted house  movies or something  like that. The way her house was.
The wind. The darkness. It gave me chills.

"Naomi" I screamed out. It didn't help that it echoed. Just made me more creeped  out.

I walked  slowly to the back door. Trying to be prepared  for what I saw.
Don't go not yet, please please please 

There was no one there. The backyard was pale and cold and looked like it needed to be mowed since 2012. The grass was long wavy and brown.

If she isnt here then where the fuck  did she go

Then I heard the breathing. Deep heavy breaths like someone just ran up the 5 flights of stairs at school. Heavy breathing like we just finished playing a decent game of basketball.
Decent can mean anything

I was about to walk through the grass when I heard a loud scream. It wasn't  Naomi's at all, I never even heard her scream before. It was the lady next door. She looked scared then saw me and pointed up 

I forgot she had multiple floors

I looked up and all I saw was her feet dangling from the balcony.  She had on a blindfold and an all white dress. She was humming. 

Her fingertips barley hanging from the rail. 

"Dear god save her soul" I heard the lady whisper. This can't be real, I can't be seeing this 

Once I saw the flash of white and I ran, ran as fast as I could ever. I refused to let her leave without my consent 

I refused.

It felt like the world ended, that everything was frozen for just a minute.

Oh my god......... No....

"CALL 911" I screamed "GO! NOW! "

The lady ran inside her house and started sobbing as she told the operator what had happened. I resisted to cry as I heard the sirens coming closer and closer to her house.
