There once was an onion who lived in a tree,
As happy a vegetable there never could be,
But how did he get up into the tree so high?
Everyone knows that onions can't fly.
Was he born in the tree? Did he climb, had he jumped?
This one question had Mr Onion rather stumped?
One day he sat, contemplating this thought,
Unable to find the answer that he saught,
When all of a sudden he rolled out of the tree,
Dropping to the ground, shouting out "Weeeeeee"
He soon reached the end of this perilous drop,
But Mr Onion wasn't quite ready to come to a stop.
Up into sky, he bounced in good cheer,
And soon his answer had made it self clear.
Now Everyone knows that onions cant fly,
But there are other ways to reach up to the sky.
Onions are a vegetable made from layers of skin,
Each one hiding just a little bounce within.
Compress them up and then off they go,
Where they'll end up, nobody knows.
A long time ago. When he was just a boy,
Our little onlet friend had been someone's toy,
Then was squished up and launched into the night,
Sailing downwards like some vegetable kite.
Finally he had found a place he could rest.
Up in a tree, in a pigeon's old nest.
Soon the onion bounced up to his foresty shack,
What a day it had been, he was glad to be back.
