Darkness.
It was all she could see, just the inky blackness and the cold, damp feeling you get when you're in an old building that has been haunted for years.
Then, light.
It started as a tiny speck of light, then gradually grew bigger and bigger until it covered the whole room.
Everything was blurry at first, but then her vision gradually came into focus.
People. They were all around her, poking her with needles, checking her vitals, shining lights in her eyes that left colorful blotches swimming before her eyes.
One of the men's mouth moved. She strained to hear, but all she heard was a muffled deep voice.
"Can you hear me now?" The same man asked.
She tried to speak, but all that came out was a hissing noise.
"She can hear!" The man said.
"Ladies and Gentlemen! Subject 101 is alive!"
