Chapter 1: Rei and His Other Side
His name is Rei Kagene. Another average, quiet, plain boy. Currently stuck in high school, sitting in the back of the class, having no friends and all.
No, he’s not going to save the world or beat the crap out of bad guys and stuff that ‘normal’ boys do in novels, anime, mangas and movies. It’s something much morry realistic. Science fiction, that is.
Rei attend Voca High, just like every other Vocaloid does. They are basically artificial humans created to specifically sings.
These Vocaloids that is created inside the womb will later be divided to further category. Vocaloids are 100% Vocaloids (I sounds like a retard writing this). Fanloids are another version of Vocaloids. Some thought they were Vocaloids that ‘failed’. Utauloids are not fully artificial but were trained to be Vocaloids. Utaites are half human and half Vocaloids.
Vocaloids usually have problem making contact with normal people. The reason is that not everyone approve of these artificial beings. Some does acknowledged them as idols, but some also sees them no more than robots or tools.
Rei is a Shadowloid type of Fanloid. Meaning he was created based on an already existing Vocaloid as the shadow.
He haven’t got to know himself he is one of ‘them’ until the third year of his primary school. Since then Rei has always been reminded by his parents and he couldn’t help but sees himself as unreal. Not a normal person.
He has blended in well with the humans, mostly because he is not that famous as a Vocaloid. He attend school in normal school until he was caught in fourth grade, where he began to get bullied and apparently has to move away.
Rei sat with a random book in his hands. He would sneek glances at people and stare which sometimes looks more like a glare.
His middle school years has passed so fast, he wasn’t able to make a single friend other than his twin Rui and his step sister from the same mother, Yukari Yuzuki.
This is already in high school and he is dreading to make at least a friend, whatever Vocaloid it is.
He grew up to be smart, though. So he also grew up to be quite lazy. And I do mean lazy. Really lazy.
He only talks when needed, laughs when he only feel like doing so and thinks crying for something or someone worthless is a tiresome thing to do. Smiling is also unnecessary. Frowning takes more or less 42 of your face muscle and it only takes about two of your arm muscle to slap someone and Rei would rather do neither of them.
He had always been a nice kid but changed when he moves to the special school for Vocaloids. He became more anti-social and stays as an indoor person since he doesn’t have anyone to play with. Rei also refuses to play girly games with his sisters.
Suddenly a seat next to him was taken by a certain blonde who seems to be the only semi-acquaintance of Rei.
“...Akita-kun...”
“Yo, Rei! Gloomy as always, huh?” Nero greeted with a cheery grin.
“This is my usual emotions”, Rei stated calmly. “Facial expressions are a waste of time and energy to show to people”.
The blonde chuckled lightly, “If you keep this longer, you will have less facial expression than Kristen Stewart!”
“Really funny”, The other person muttered in sarcasm, closing his eyes in annoyance.
As Nero began humming the song ‘Albino’ Rei continued reading his book, though still listening to Nero’s hum. He glanced up in wonder when there’s a sudden turn of off-key.
