First, type your text on your picture. Now go and click the button that says "Style" and you'll be seeing this:

Click on "Create Color Pattern".
Once again, it'll bring you to another screen (duh):

Create your pattern. So click the top where it says "Horizontal (C)".
It'll bring you here:

Click the "Horizontal" option, and voíla! There's the gradient effect.
