Pacifica

"There you are Pacifica!" Gideon said as I finally got to the top of the stairs. "Where were you?"

"Thanking Robbie obviously." I said. "I wouldn't just leave and not thank somebody."

Gideon nodded and looked at the door before us. "Well here's your new room."

He opened the door and I stared. Although it wasn't big it was fine. "It's nice Gideon." I said. "Thanks for letting me stay here."

He smiled nicely. "It's no problem."

"Well I forgot my bags downstairs so I should go-"

"Hey Paz!" Robbie said through the doorway. "You forgot your stuff."

I smiled sheepishly. "Yeah I guess I did didn't I?"

He smiled. "Yes you did."

Gideon looked between us. The he wrinkled his nose. "Paz?" He questioned.

"Oh!" I said. "It's Robbie's nickname for me!"

Gideon frowned.

Is he mad because he didn't give me a nickname or does he think that Robbie likes me? I wouldn't mind Robbie liking me-what am I saying? I thought.

"Yeah I gave her the nickname Gids, chill okay?" Robbie said punching Gideon on the shoulder playfully.

Gideon just shrugged and looked at the floor.

"Thanks a million Robbie." I said.

"Like I said before, it's no problem Paz." Robbie responded, winking at me before he left the room. Again I felt my heart swell.

Gideon looked at me. "So, do you want to unpack alone or do you want me to stay or..." He looked so confused. Like he had never tried to impress a girl before.

I laughed. "I'll be okay be myself."

He nodded and left me alone to my thoughts.

I sighed and began to unpack wondering why Gideon didn't notice my chicken, Hannah, like Robbie did.

Oh Robbie...I thought. Does he have a girlfriend? Would he like me? Does he like me? Does he think I'm a nuisance? Am I a nuisance?

All the talk, well the thought of Robbie and me made my brain hurt. "Oh well." I said sitting down on what was going to be my bed for the summer. "I have all summer to know if I like him or he likes me." I got off the bed and started to unpack~

As soon as I was done, I let Hannah out and she clucked as she flew up to sit on my bed.

"Hey!" I scolded. "I was going to sit there!"

Hannah looked at me with her chicken eyes and I sighed. "I guess I could find another place to sit." I looked up at the windowsill and walked over to sit there.

Hannah, however, didn't move an inch. Once I got to the windowsill I sat down and stared at the sunset that was starting to go down on the horizon in Reverse Falls.

It was a pinkish orangish color with hints of yellow. I sighed and silently wished that my parents would be here. I really missed them because I didn't really want to go to Reverse Falls for the summer anyway but all my friends were going to places and wouldn't be home for the summer.

So my parents decided that I should go to stay with a friend of their's. Then I silently wished that I was at home instead of the unknown. Then again I would miss Robbie and perhaps Gideon but I barely knew them.

"PACIFICA!!!!!" I heard Gideon yell. "WE'RE GOING OUT TO EAT!!! COME ON!!!"

I sighed and took one last look at the sunset and wondered who else was looking at it. If there was someone out there like me. Then, I got off the windowsill and walked out of the room leaving Hannah, sound asleep, in the room. My room.

"It's a place called the Greasy Diner!" Gideon explained. "I think you'll like it. I hope."

I gave him a reassuring smile before getting into the car. "Of course I'll like it."

He nodded and got into the car and sat next to me.

"So where's your mother?" I asked trying not to pry.

"Oh she'll be here soon." He replied.

Bud honked the horn. "Carla! Hurry up!"

I heard a door slam and a woman with nice gray hair stepped into the car.

"There she is." I heard Gideon mumble.

"Hi Mrs. Pines." I said politely.

She looked back at me. "You must be be Pacifica. I've heard so much about you."

I tilted my head confused and she laughed. "Gideon kept telling me how pretty you are when you were unpacking your stuff."

Gideon's face turned a deep red. "Mom!"

Carla laughed again. "I'm just teasing you Gideon." Then she whispered to me. "He really was though."

I felt my cheeks heat up and I glanced at Gideon. His face was still the deep shade of red. I felt suddenly sympathetic for him so I playfully punched him on the shoulder. "Hey I'm flattered Gids."

He seems to smile at that. "Thanks Paz."

The car started and we were headed to The Greasy Diner.

On the way there I saw a black limousine driving next to us. I tilted my head and wondered if anyone famous people lived in Reverse Falls.

I heard Bud groan and he glanced at the limo next to us. "Ugh the Gleefuls."

"The Gleefuls?" I asked curiously.

"Annoying family." Gideon said. "My parents don't like them."

"So are they famous?" I whispered to Gideon while Bud muttered bad things about the 'Gleefuls'.

"Well in a sense, yes." Gideon whispered back.

"Why?" I asked.

"SON OF A—!" Bud yelled.

I covered my ears before I heard Bud curse as loud as he could. I noticed that the limousine went right in front of us.

"REALLY STANFORD?" Bud yelled again.

"Stanford?" I asked. No one was answering my questions!

"He's the great uncle of the twins." Gideon whispered. "It's funny because he also has a twin brother named Stanley."

"The twins.." I said.

"Huh?" Gideon asked.

"Nothing I mean never mind." I said.

"Okay.." Gideon said.

I looked at the limousine in front of us and I swear I saw someone smirk at me.
