"April, I don't like this." Jax says as he climbs under the fence.
He gets tangled in the loose wires and wriggles around. I help him out, and he stands, giving me the evil eye.
"Trust me on this. You'll love it here!" I say.
"It looks cool, but what if Mom-" He starts.
I gladly finish for him, "She won't find out. Unless one of you snitch, then you won't go anywhere with me again. Understand?" I say.
"Yea whatever." Jax says.
Hazel nods happily and she spreads a wild smile across her face.
"Ok. Come on, there is one thing I want to show you." I say, taking Hazels hand.
"Ok, so, where are we going?" Jax asks.
"Were exploring." I shrug, "Have some fun. You've never been here before!"
"Can we get pretzels?" Hazel asks me.
"As many pretzels as you want." I say with a smile, "Come on, let's go to the pretzel shop."
We run down the streets and past many stores that give off various smells. We finally make it to the pretzel store after a few minutes of running. We are all out of breathe, but still manage to get inside. Both Jax and Hazel sit down at a booth in the corner of the room.
"Rush?" I yell though the shop.
I hear a stampede climb down the stairs, but then I realize it's only Rush.
"Hey April." He yells as he runs down the stairs, "Be with you in a moment."
"You two know each other?" Jax asks from the corner of the room.
"Yea?" I say, "Why?"
"No reason except, HOW DO YOU KNOW HIM?!" He yells.
Before I can answer his question, Rush steps into the room and answers for me.
"We're old friends." He says as he walks to the counter.
"Anyways, what do you two want?" He asks pointing to Jax and Hazel.
Hazel walks over to me and sits down at the counter.
"I want a pretzel!" She says with a smile, "Please."
Rush looks at me with a confused face.
I laugh and say, "She just wants a plain pretzel."
"Oh." He laughs as he is typing into the keyboard, "You?"
He looks at Jax.
"Me?" Jax says pointing at himself.
"Well who else would I be talking to?" Rush laughs.
"I don't want anything from here. Actually, I don't want anything from this city!" He yells.
"Then go home." I tell him, "Or are you too scared?"
I cross my arms and glare at him. He turns away and stares out the window.
"Ok? And I'm guessing you want a cheese bun?" Rush asks me.
"Yes." I laugh.
"Thought so," He says, "I'll be right back."
"Don't I have to pay?" I yell to him in the back.
"No don't worry about it. On the house." He says as he sets out food on the counter after a few minutes.
"Thanks." I say.
Hazel is already digging into her pretzel and is smiling bright as she chews.
"This is amazing." She says, "Your a good cook."
"Why thank you." Rush says, in a funny accent, "Only the best for you malady."
"Now what brings you country folk to the city?" Rush asks me with a more serious tone in his voice.
