Another week has passed and everything is back to normal. Almost everything.

The day after Maine talked to Jerald and Sam, the two guys met with RJ to explain to him what Maine told them. He was disappointed at her request but not really surprised. RJ even tried to ask for the help of his friends for the chance to talk to her, but both said it wasn't the perfect time for them to discuss things yet. Defeated, RJ agreed to the request and promised to stay away from Maine for the meantime. It has been a difficult week, not just for the two, but also for their friends who are caught in the middle of it all. Jerald stayed true to his promise to her sister and never tried or hinted to opening a topic involving RJ. Sam, on one hand, had a difficult time doing this, forcing him to busy himself with his school works and girls just so he does not have to spend so much time with her.

This was how the past days has been - but only with Maine. With RJ, the two guys were able to freely ask him what his plans are, with Jerald expecting to hear something concrete, but unfortunately, RJ still does not know what he wants.

Jake just finished his last class for the day and is walking towards the car park when he saw a familiar figure, seating at one of the kiosks near the open field. Abandoning his original plan of going home, he decided to approach her as he hasn't talked to her for a long while now.

He tapped Maine's shoulder before placing his things on the table and sat beside her. Maine turned to him and her eyes grew wide when she saw that it was him.

"Ganoon ba ako ka gwapo na nanlalaki mata mo sa pag titig sa akin?" He asked, grinning at her. "Why are you here?" She asked, startled. Jake noticed this and his broad smile disappeared, and was replaced with a look of confusion. "I saw you e. I actually missed you kaya nilapitan kita. Is there something wrong?" He asked. Maine shook her head and gathered her things hurriedly. She stood up and walked away from, confusing him more. Jake took his bag and ran after her. "Huy." He said and grabbed her elbow to stop her from walking away. "Pati ba ako iiwasan mo? Dahil lang ba kapatid ko si RJ?" He said, hurt. Maine sighed and pulled her arm from his grip and adjusted the strap of her backpack that fell from her shoulder. "Yes." She answered in a low voice and looked down at her feet.

"That's really unfair. I thought we were friends. Real friends and not just because I'm the brother of one of your best buddies." He said. Jake stared at her, trying to read her like how he usually does before, but unlike then, he can't read her emotions now, at all. When Maine did not respond, Jake sighed and started to walk away from her.

Maine watched his retreating back, guilt filling her heart. Breathing deeply, she ran after him and halted him from walking. Jake raised his eyebrows, asking an obvious question.

"It's not that, okay. You are my friend. I consider you as one of my true friends. I would still want us to be friends even if you're not RJ's brother or Sam's cousin. Kaya lang... Juan Emilo, you are RJ's twin brother. You may not look exactly the same, but you still have similiraties, not just with your looks but with your attitude, as well. I want to move on, and I don't think I'll be able to do that if I'll let myself be around someone who is so much like the person I'm trying to forget. Yes, this is unfair, and believe me this is so hard for me too because I really miss you and RJ, but I need to do this. For me. I'm sorry." Maine explained. She looked at him apologetically before walking away, a lone tear cascading down her cheek.
