Erebus choked.

he looked down at Theia, who was wide eyed with horror.

"Erebus," she whispered as he fell away from her.

he collapsed, swallowing dry air.

Theia was beside him in seconds, crying silently.

"why did you do it, Erebus? why did you make me do it?"

Erebus felt his organs collapse.

his throat was stricken, his lungs raw.

he was dying.

"Erebus," she said again.

he loved the way she said his name.

he looked up at her, blood staining her dress.

she was beautiful, the universe inside a body.

layered in iron and skin.

Erebus tried to say something, that he loved her or that he forgave her.

that it wasn't her fault.

but the choking closed his throat and his words became slur.

"I loved you Erebus, please remember that."

Theia held him, gurgling and bleeding.

and as he smiled up at her, she felt him slip away.

Erebus, the darkness, was dead.
