we stood outside

in line

out in the cold.

I wrapped my arms around myself tightly trying to secure some form of warmth to my skin I wasn't wearing the right clothes for this.

As the fire fighters moved into the main part of the school building while us school students waited outside in nothing but flimsy school skirts, blouses and shorts

I tapped my foot against the turf under my feet minutes passed like this and it was during this time that our tight organized lines began to relax as the teachers thinned out as they went to socialize and we too eventually began to spread out as well scurrying left and right like ants under a magnifying glass but I remained in the same spot occasionally swaying from side to side to ease the burning in my legs

I sighed there was a loud clank noise that startled me and as I listened to the low buzz of conversation there was yet again another one louder this time it sounded like it was coming from the gym roof that was only a few meters away from the oval we were currently standing on

I turned my head and too my surprise it was a large group of boys about five or seven of them. They looked down at us practically laughing their heads off not at all phased by the biting cold winds that howled across the expanse of grass like wolfs.

but one of them stood out to me he looked a little bored and if not just a little sad like he had done this more times then he would have liked too but i just assumed that seeing as we were a little over forty of fifty feet away from each others

I also had a feeling all of this was their doing.

Dressed in blacks reds and blues their hair all slick back their looks just screamed bad boy and that was just the sort of people that people like me steer very clear from.

I folded my arms over my chest shaking my head attracting some of their attention well mainly the bored one I froze and quickly turned away i'm not the type to start a fight I never liked being the center of attention

the bell rung signaling the end of the day and thankfully the end of the week I was quick to gather my books off the desk pulling it into a neat pile before I picked it up into my arms and moved quickly down the hallway just missing the people who shot down it a little more then eager to get home

I had a clear view of my locker from my current position and lowered my head hell bent on getting to it as quickly as I could until my body came into contact with something hard and I lost my balance and fell to the floor my books going every where

"fish nuggets" I mumbled cursing myself how the hell did I hit a damn wall?.

I looked up only to be met with a pair of hypnotizing green eyes that stared back at me with amusement but he didn't smile his black hair was slick back and out of his eyes sunglasses perched on the top of his head his skin was sun kissed even in this crappy cold weather his black leather jacket and trousers seemed to suit the mysterious air around him

"did you just say fish nuggets?"his strangely alluring voice called out to me snapping me out of my thought bubble

I blushed as I realized I was staring before quickly turning around and grabbing the  first of my brightly colored books and pulling them and theirloose papers towards me as I avoided all means of eye contact between me and the strange boy that I knew was one of the seven I had seen on the gym roof the one who looked like he wanted to be some where else, but if there was one thing me father told me and this might have been the only thing that he had told me and I actually listened to was to stay away from bad boys and I was just listening to my dad something that i don't do very often

"hey" I heard him say again

I flinched at his tone realizing that I had zoned out I have been doing that a lot lately, I went to reach out and grab the last papers when I realized there were none left to grab. I slowly turned my head to look at him again his dim green eyes blinked lazily at me, and they seemed almost ... sad, and I wanted so much to know what he was sad about

"make sure next time" he began slowly as he eyed me down "you watch where you're going small stuff"

his green eyes flickered with some unknown emotion that left me frozen, I didn't even care about the nickname he gave me. he grabbed the last of my papers and the few books he had dropped before he climbed to his feet and handing them back to me

with one last look he moved after his friends who had walked past us when he had bumped into me or me into him I held my books tightly and waited until he was completely gone before I climbed to my feet

"wait!" I cried out as the bus sped away

people waved back at me smiles on their faces if only they knew what waited for me at home if I was late. I sighed sitting down on the curb that was the last bus for the next two hours.

I rested my forehead on one of my hands while reaching around I pulled my bag to me opening it up and reaching inside for my phone the only person home at the moment was my step mother, and we didn't like each other very much,

I turned on my phone only to have it blink the low battery sign before it turned off I cursed quietly under my breath having forgot to charge it this morning and then as if today couldn't get any worse it started to rain

what a lovely way to start my weekend.

I climbed to me feet with no other option but to start walking I zipped my back up protecting what little things I have in there.

a honk startled me I jumped up but wasn't on the road so saw no need for the driver to honk at me. I turned around just as a clean looking Mercedes drove towards me at a slow pace my first thought was 'wow what a nice car' and then as an after thought I was all 'stranger danger'

I took a step away from the curb as the car stopped beside me the window rolling down I went to start walking until a single person stopped me in my tracks
