Fifth

I was pushed hard against the locker I yelped as I was held against it

"Hey nerd" someone said against my ear I squeezed my eyes shut

"Hey Daniel" I mumbled trying to hide the audible shake in my voice

People walked past us casually not bothering to help, this had happened so many times that nobody really cared any more he was the school bully any ways he pushed me harder against the locker and I dug my nails into my palm just waiting for it to end he slammed something near my head the large muscles on his arms making the task of scaring me much easier as I flinched

"Do you know what this is?" he growled lowly my face scrunching up from his garbage breath I could tell he was getting angry

I turned my head to the side it was the assessment task that I did for him last week he probably just got it back

"It's the homewor---"

" I know what it is" he snapped interrupting me "but what did I specifically tell you to make it?"I closed my eyes

"A grade" I whispered knowing what this was about

"What was that?" he sneered

"A grade" I told him

"And what does it say on the front my little nerd?" I peeled my eyes open looking at the paper it said B+and I tried to swallow the large amount of fear that crept up my throat as I tried to make my voice as steady as possible

"B+" I told him

He pulled me back and pushed me back into the locker hard I cried out at this point there was no one in the hall

"You're going to pay little runt and then maybe next time you'll do it ri—--"

I felt the pressure of his body yanked away from my own and I fell to my knees body braced against the lockers as I tried to keep upright my knees like jelly beneath me I turned around to see a familiar black haired boy pressing a slightly terrified Daniel against the lockers both their hands gripping theo thers collar but riders was tighter and if anything more threatening

"How dare you" Daniel growled out between clenched teeth "I'll have you know----"

"That I don't care, what you're doing is bullying"

He shoved him back hard making me wince fear flash through Daniels eyes as rider whispered something against his ear and he seemed to grow three shades paler as all color disappeared from his skin

"Don't you ever go near her again"rider hissed out his teeth clenched

Daniels eyes quickly shot to me then back to rider his eyes widened even more with fear as rider let him go

"Get lost" he grounded out

Daniel was the one to flinch this time as he dashed down the hall that was completely silent save for the sound of my erratic breathing rider turned around to me after making sure Daniel was gone his eyes were still dark with anger and protectiveness but it was only there for a moment before it was gone he came closer to me his hand grabbing my own before he tugged me gently to my feet as he acted like nothing happened

"You've probably missed your bus now haven't you?" he asked but he didn't give me any time to answer before he sighed "come on small stuff I'll drive you home"
