GO AWAY [ Grayson Dolan Fanfic ]

Chapter 18

Brianna's POV
When I woke up everything was blurry, I blinked a few times before hearing the constant worries from my father and Lisa.
"How are you feeling? Should I get the nurse?" my father panicked. I rubbed my eyes, trying to clear my head,
"What happened to me?" I croaked.

Lisa chuckled a little before telling me,
"Everything's ok, the doctor said you had Appendicitis, they took care of it so you'll be able to come home tonight."
"Thank goodness Grayson came in time, I almost had a heart attack when I found out you were in the hospital."  My eyes widened when my brain caught up with his words,
"Grayson! " I gasped out as I sat up.
"Where is he right now!"
"No worries, he and Ethan should be taking the test right now." Lisa reassured.
"Probably scoring the highest scores, like always." Suddenly the doors to my room slid open, and just like that, the reassurance I felt for a second vanished.  Grayson stood there for a second before stepping in like nothing happened.
"Grayson dear, I thought you went to take the entrance testing?"

He shrugged before saying,
"I didn't go. My stomach felt a bit empty, couldn't concentrate without grabbing something to eat."
"Where's Ethan?" Lisa asked.
"He's taking the test right now." He replied.
"He didn't go." I whispered. This was all my fault, just like all the other times a few days ago. Except, this was permanent, there is no way I can make up for his loss of a chance.
"He didn't go." I said a little louder as if I were blaming myself over and over. The three conversing figures in my room turned to me in shock, but I didn't look up, how could I?

Sean would be so angry, he might not show it but I know he will. Who could blame him? Everyone had high expectations from him, how is Grayson supposed to live up to them without going to a place that can offer him exactly that?
"He'll figure it out, meanwhile, he can go to college with Bri." was what Lisa had said. My father and I had apologized at least a million to the Dolan family, through the entire time Cameron was giving me the 'I told you so' look.

That night, I couldn't sleep; knowing Grayson was right across the hall but not knowing what he thought about me anymore. No, I don't want to know the ugly truth. So that was it, I decided to leave and go live with my father in the small storage place above the restaurant. I left a letter behind before I slipped out the door, written on there was my confession of thanks to the Dolan dealing with me and why I'm deciding to leave.

I held onto the heavy suitcase as I stood outside the biggest house I have ever lived in, the place made me so happy. Goodbye.

I turned around and was about to take a step forward, but the sound of a window sliding open made me halt in my steps.
"You sure look like you're having the time of your life." Grayson's voice called out.
"C'mon you just got better, get back inside."
He cares?
"No, don't try to stop me--"
"Oh, I'm not stopping you from leaving." Grayson cut in amused. "You're leaving because I didn't get to go to Hadden, yeah?"

I stayed silent for a while,
"It was my fault. Cameron was right you know," I continued
"I'm preventing you from everything you deserve."
"Let me clarify this, not make it to the testing wasn't because of you." I kept staring at the ground, not daring to look at him.
"After I got you to the hospital, I had the perfect amount of time to run back."
"Wait, it wasn't me..." I gasped.

Grayson rolled his eyes at my slow reaction before looking away to a distance.
"You told me going to college was to find your future, but I realized lately that with you in my life, it became more interesting. More challenging."

Where was he going with this? Am I troublesome or am I the good part of his life?

"Compared to going a high-end preppy school, staying with you seemed like the better choice." He says in a quiet tone.
"I know, it surprised me too." Something clicked inside,
"So because you wanted to continue to be with me, you gave up the better alternative option."
His eyes snapped back to mine, "Try not to dwell on that." He stretched a bit and said, "I said what I wanted, you can go leave now."
