// Hope //

It was a really tiring, exasperating night. The twins kept fighting over small, random things and Cole kept spacing out, quietly sitting on their living room couch, trapped inside his own world. I'm ready to call it a night but of course, it was only 8PM, 1 more hour before their bedtime.

Help.

I sighed, getting up to check on the twins, I put them on time out because they kept tugging on a poor yellow piece of Play Doh which I didnt quite understand because they had loads of play doh tins. I guess they were just trying to annoy each other.

I opened the door to the rec room, where I found pieces of torn paper sprawled all over the floor and two pairs of eyes staring up at me guiltily. I composed myself quickly, taking a long, deep breath before I started talking.

"What happened here?" I asked calmly.

Mira immediately pointed her sister. "Mina did!"

I shot her a doubtful look because she looked nervous and she seemed defensive. "Uh-huh." I appeased her, turning to her sister. "Did you do this, Mina?"

"No. Mira did!" Mina squealed, defending herself.

I sighed and turned back to Mira. "Did you do this Mira? C'mon it's okay.  I'm not mad. All you have to do is fess up and help me clean this up."

She let out a high pitched squeal, and thrashed her arms around her, sniffling a little. "Nonono! Mina did!" she cried.

But then, she's pretty adamant that Mina did it so..

"Mina, did you do this? Or did Mira do this?"

"Uhmm.." she hummed and her eyes brightened. "Barbie did." she said, pointing at the poor Barbie sitting on her bed.

I stifled a laugh. I don't even know what to believe right now. "So should I put Barbie in a time out?"

She nodded, grabbed Barbie's hair, and handed the poor Barbie to me. I took it because I had no choice and inspected the scattered pieces of paper to look for some sort of clue.

I was sure that Mira was the culprit but now that I've done my inspection, Mina's side has more scattered torn papers than Mira's side.

"Mina did this, right Mira?" I interrogated the other twin.

She stared at me with those hauntingly big, innocent eyes and answered. "No. Barbie did."

That's it. I'm closing this case.

"Owell. Can you and your sister help me clean this mess up?" I asked politely. "And can you promise me that you guys would watch over Barbie so she wont do this again?"

They both nodded and began picking up pieces of paper, handing them over to me. And five minutes later, we had a paperbag full of paper, a clean room and sleepy twins.

Well, one good thing turned out from that mess, I guess. Early bedtime. I won't have to worry about them whining about not wanting to go to sleep.

"Bedtime, princesses! Go brush your teeth." I ordered, prodding them to stand up and go to the bathroom.

When they were tucked in and when all is well, I tiredly went back to the living room where Cole was watching TV.
